Stage Left Theatre is proud to present LeapFest 8, Stage Left's annual new-play festival, running June 14 - July 3, 2011. LeapFest is an annual event featuring five new plays with socio-political themes, presented as workshop productions in rotating repertory. This year's festival includes new works from Randall Colburn, Rob Smith, Steve Spencer, Kate Wenner, and SLT ensemble members Anita Chandwaney and MEH Lewis.

Though Jonathan Groff is likely best known to theatre audiences for his Tony-nominated performance in SPRING AWAKENING, he became known to television audiences last year as Jesse St. James in the smash hit GLEE. Next week - on the 146th anniversary of the death of Abraham Lincoln - he'll appear in movie theaters across the country when 'The Conspirator', centered around Lincoln's assassination, opens nationwide.

The Ford's Theatre Society announced that visitors may now enhance their experience at the historic site by renting an Acoustiguide Audio Tour featuring stories, character voices, sound effects and historic photos. Acoustiguides are available in adult and youth (age 8-12) versions and may be reserved through Ticketmaster when purchasing advance timed-entry tickets. Additionally, daytime performances of the one-act play 'One Destiny' by Richard Hellesen will resume April 4-May 21. Ford's Theatre presents evening performances of 'One Destiny' June 14-July 2, 2011. Part of the History on Stage series, the 30-minute 'One Destiny' presentation captures the first-hand accounts of those present at Ford's Theatre the day of Lincoln's assassination.

Stephen Sondheim (Sweeny Todd, Company, Into the Woods) and John Weidman's (Pacific Overtures) Assassins opened Off-Broadway in 1990, and a new revival script was produced on Broadway in 2004 winning five Tony Awards. Now, Trustus Theatre is bringing the award-winning revival of Assassins to the Capital City with an unprecedented cast and crew in tow. Assassins will begin knocking audiences dead on March 25th at 8:00pm on the Trustus Main Stage, and the production will run through April 16th, 2011.

Twenty-five years after the assassination of President Lincoln, a traveling group of actors and singers tells tales of the Civil War and our nation's struggle to remain together. Actual journal entries and letters from eyewitnesses, along with multimedia images of events, combine with songs of the period immerse the audience in the struggle to keep the Union together.
