Happy Birthday Marissa Jaret Winokur! She is best known for her performance as Tracy Turnblad in the highly successful Broadway musical adaptation of John Waters' film Hairspray, and won the 2003 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, Drama Desk Award, Theatre World Award, and Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance. She recently reprised the role in the Hollywood Bowl production of Hairspray last summer.

The Off-Broadway smash, Ruthless! The Musical, will celebrate its 100th performance today, January 30th at St. Luke's Theatre in the heart of the Theatre District.

The Off-Broadway smash, RUTHLESS! The Musical, will celebrate its 100th performance this Saturday, January 30th at St. Luke's Theatre in the heart of the Theatre District. Due to overwhelming demand, the producers of RUTHLESS! recently put a new block of seats on sale through April 2nd. There will be an early 1:30 PM curtain this Saturday in order to accommodate a special meet & greet/celebration with the cast immediately after the matinee. RUTHLESS! opened July 13th to unanimous rave reviews led by Entertainment Weekly which called the show, "Uproarious! A mash-up of THE BAD SEED, GYPSY, ALL ABOUT EVE, plus the films of Douglas Sirk and John Waters!" Book and lyrics are by Joel Paley with music by Marvin Laird. Paley also directed the original production of RUTHLESS! as well as productions in L.A., South Beach and the record-breaking concert event starring Bernadette Peters. He once again serves as director of the new production, with Marvin Laird on board as music supervisor as well.

Lehmann Maupin is pleased to present the gallery's debut solo exhibition for Los Angeles-based photographer Catherine Opie. For the occasion, two concurrent exhibitions will be on view at the gallery's Chelsea and Lower East Side locations, featuring new work by Opie that underscores her on-going dialogue with the history of photography and constructs of identity, both integral aspects of her practice. This season will include tributes to Eartha Kitt (January 24 at 9:30 PM), the musical Cabaret (February 21 at 9:30 PM), Elton John (March 20 at 9:30 PM), Barbra Streisand (April 17 at 9:30 PM) and George Michael (May 22 at 7:00 PM). Special guests for each show will be announced.

Producer Daniel Nardicio will present the eclectic and electric Tony Award-winning performer ALAN CUMMINNG in his headlining debut at Carnegie Hall on Monday, February 8 at 8:00 PM. The show Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs with Friends features guest stars Darren Criss and Ricki Lake, in addition to a special performance by the New York City Gay Men's Chorus.

Hairspray is a musical with music by Marc Shaiman, lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman and a book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, based on the 1988 John Waters film Hairspray. The songs include 1960s-style dance music and 'downtown' rhythm and blues. In 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, plump teenager Tracy Turnblad's dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show, a local TV dance program based on the real-life Buddy Deane Show.
