Florida Rep will kick off its 2014-15 ArtStage season with the Florida premiere of Tribes, a daring new play by Nina Raine. Winner of the 2012 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Play, Tribes plays Nov. 7-30, with three nearly sold-out previews tonight and tomorrow, Nov. 5 and 6.
The Guthrie Theater and The Acting Company (TAC) reunite for a sixth year, presenting Hamlet, Shakespeare's story of a Danish prince's search for vengeance, justice and truth, in repertory with Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, a reworking of the same tragedy from the point of view of two minor characters and their static existence in a world beyond their comprehension. The Guthrie Theater's production of Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey into Night moves into the final week of its acclaimed run, with the performance of Helen Carey as Mary Tyrone earning accolades for its complexity and sympathetic power. Carey, an actor with an illustrious career spanning a Tony Award nomination, pivotal roles in Guthrie productions, stage credits in New York and the U.K., as well as numerous film and television credits, was termed "superb" in her latest role by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its production of Eugene O'Neill's semi-autobiographical masterwork Long Day's Journey into Night. For the first time in its 50-year history, the Guthrie will present this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning family drama under the direction of Artistic Director Joe Dowling. The production will star actors Peter Michael Goetz and Helen Carey in the roles of James and Mary Tyrone. James is an aging actor and Mary is his rambling, morphine-addicted wife-both struggle to helm a dysfunctional family racked by addiction, despair and festering guilt.
The Guthrie Theater today announced the full casts, comprising 39 actors, for the three plays of the Christopher Hampton Celebration. The previously announced celebration of the multi-faceted writer's work will occupy all three of the Guthrie's stages in an immersive and illuminating theatrical experience, with diverse casts tackling dynamic roles torn from the pages of world history.

Currently onstage at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis is the period musical spectacular Roman Holiday. Based on the iconic film, the show features the music of Cole Porter, including hits like 'Easy to Love,' 'Begin the Beguine,' 'Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye' and 'Riding High', in addition to rarely heard gems that fit perfectly into the story. The production began preview performances on June 9 and opens tonight, June 15. The run is scheduled to continue through August 19 on the McGuire Proscenium Stage. Stephanie Rothenberg leads the cast of Roman Holiday as Princess Anne-a radiant young woman in Rome on a widely publicized European tour who sneaks away from her royal duties to explore the city. Rothenberg recently made her Broadway debut stepping into the role of Rosemary in the Tony-nominated revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Edward Watts plays Joe Bradley-a handsome, crafty American newspaper reporter who charms the princess. Watts most recently appeared in the long-running production of The Fantasticks in New York City.

Television, film and stage actress Harriet Harris (Television: 'Desperate Housewives' and 'Frasier;' Film: Nurse Betty, Memento; Guthrie: The Glass Menagerie, A Midsummer Night's Dream; Broadway: Thoroughly Modern Millie) and stage and film actor Simon Jones (Television: 'Brideshead Revisited;' Broadway: Blithe Spirit; Guthrie: Shadowlands, The Home Place) will lead the cast as Judith and David Bliss-the matriarch and patriarch of the peculiar Bliss family. Rounding out the family are John Skelley as Simon (Guthrie: Charley's Aunt) and Cat Walleck in her Guthrie debut as Sorel.
