Earlier today, the cast of MATILDA THE MUSICAL got the chance to speak live with an astronaut on the International Space Station via satellite hook-up provided by NASA. During the event, Astronaut Tom Marshburn (brother-in-law of cast member John Sanders) got to chat with some of the kids and adults from the Tony nominated show. MATILDA THE MUSICAL, produced by The Royal Shakespeare Company and The Dodgers, opened last night April 11, 2013 at Broadway's Shubert Theatre (225 West 44th Street). The four girls sharing the title role are Sophia Gennusa -- who played the lead for last night's opening -- Oona Laurence, Bailey Ryon and Milly Shapiro, each of whom will be making her Broadway debut. Edmonds Center for the Arts hosts a Benefit Concert for Edmonds-Woodway Jazz Ensemble, featuring Edmonds-Woodway Jazz Bands, College Place Jazz Band and Jake Bergevin and the Javatown Swing Orchestra tonight, March 27 at 7:00pm. Proceeds help subsidize expenses that the Edmonds-Woodway Jazz Band and their director Jake Bergevin will incur in their travel to the Essentially Ellington Competition in New York in May.
