Ana Gazzola is best known in Los Angeles for her work with Brasil Brazil, a troupe she created with Sonia Santos, a fellow singer and songwriter from Brazil. Their high-energy blend of jazz and Brazilian music has made them one of the city's most exciting acts. Huntington Beach High School and Academy for the Performing Arts senior Elizabeth Romero won the Spotlight competition for non-classical voice after performing at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Saturday night in their annual event, hosted by Broadway star Ben Vereen. Selected as one of eight award winners out of 2300 students from 400 schools, Elizabeth will receive a $5,000 cash scholarship. Award-winning comedian Rita Rudner began her show business career on stage in the national company of Zorba with Chita Rivera and John Raitt at the tender age of fifteen. After appearing in several Broadway shows, including Follies and Mack and Mabel, Rita made her last pre-comedian Broadway appearance in 1980 as Lily St. Regis in Annie.
