Streaming the First Century, San Francisco Opera's free online hub for historic recordings and interviews, expanded today with the release of Session 2: “Parlez-vous français?”

Caroline H. Hume Music Director Eun Sun Kim conducts the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, Chorus and cast in this monumental work in which love and courage overcome tyranny. Director Matthew Ozawa’s interpretation of the work updates its original eighteenth-century prison setting to a modern government detention center.

The Company unveils three new productions: Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio and, continuing the Company's Mozart-Da Ponte Trilogy, Così fan tutte and Don Giovanni. In partnership, the Illinois Arts Council Agency (IACA) and Arts Alliance Illinois are excited to announce that the next One State Together in the Arts conference will be held in Galesburg, Illinois on October 22 and 23, 2018. Additional pre-conference events for the Illinois Local Arts Network on October 21 will kick off the tenth occasion of this statewide convening for the arts, culture, and creativity.

San Francisco Opera Music Director Nicola Luisotti today announced that he will step down from his position at the end of his current contract, which expires on July 31, 2018.  Mr. Luisotti, age 55, will continue to serve as San Francisco Opera music director through the 2017-18 Season. Today's announcement was made in the War Memorial Opera House theater before the full company of staff, musicians, chorus, dancers and crew.

This will be Robin Ticciati's first Glyndebourne Festival as Music Director. He is only the seventh conductor to hold the post in Glyndebourne's 80- year history, following in the distinguished line of Fritz Busch, Vittorio Gui, John Pritchard, Bernard Haitink, Andrew Davis and Vladimir Jurowski.

Conductor Robin Ticciati returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in the first weekend of Emanuel Ax's Brahms Project, Friday, January 17, at 8 pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday, January 18 and 19, at 2 pm. All three performances feature Ligeti's rarely heard Melodien and Ax playing Brahms' monumental First Piano Concerto. Schumann's Symphony No. 1, 'Spring' will be played Saturday and Sunday.

The 2014 Festival will take place from 17 May to 24 August 2014 and includes three new productions: Strauss' Der Rosenkavalier, Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera, Verdi's La Traviata and revivals of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Mozart's Don Giovanni and Handel's Rinaldo.
