by Nicole Rosky - Mar 9, 2011

JPAS is excited to bring Danny O'Flaherty back this season for An Evening of Celtic Music with Danny himself and fellow Irish Balladeer Noel Nash! Audiences were treated to the sounds and tales of Danny O'Flaherty's CELTIC CHRISTMAS this past December. Danny returns to JPAS with Noel Nash in a concert performance featuring more traditional Celtic song, myth and dance. Friday, March 25, 2011 at 7:30PM Jefferson Performing Arts Center (EJHS Auditorium, 400 Phlox Street in Metairie) Friday, April 1, 2011 at 7:30PM Fuhrmann Auditorium (317 N. Jefferson Avenue Covington, LA 70433) Tickets for both performances, $25 General Admission . For tickets, visit www.jpas.org or call (toll free) 1-877-884-JPAS or (local) 504-885-2000 For more about Danny and Noel, click here! More about Danny O' Flaherty: Danny's success as an entertainer is driven by his dedication to preserving and passing on his Celtic heritage. As the last of a generation reared in the isolation of a pure Gaelic culture, Danny's youth recalled the simple tradition kept alive on the rugged and desolate islands. His first language is Gaelic, and his first love - the ancient music played and sung around the peat fires in the evenings. Danny evokes the often indistinguishable link between history and myth. Whether singing the timeless songs of Galway fishermen or performing his own contemporary ballads, Danny O'Flaherty keeps a unique heritage alive. Danny O'Flaherty has traveled far from his boyhood home in the farthest reach of the Irish west, to the steps of the United States Capitol where he performed before a crowd of a half a million on Solidarity Day. There have been numerous other stops along the way - each a momentous occasion: a tour of Israel culminating in a private command performance with then President Herzog; a performance at the National Cathedral for Pope John Paul II's visit to the U.S.; featured performer for President Ronald Reagan's Inaugural Ball; the opening concert for the Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland; an invitation only concert for alumnae of the University of Notre Dame, and a headliner for the Tulsa Philharmonic and The National Theatre in Washington, D.C. - just to list a few. More about Noel Nash: NOEL NASH Irish balladeer and songwriter Noel Nash has been captivating audiences throughout Great Britain and the United States with his rare vocal power and sensitivity for the past three decades. Noel was born and raised in Co. Limerick, where he was educated by the Christian Brothers. After two years study at the School of Music in Limerick, his emerging expressiveness and talent as a musician and songwriter was demonstrated during his early associations with several folk groups. He began performing as a solo artist in 1971, appearing in some of Ireland's foremost folk clubs. As his popularity spread, Noel travelled extensively throughout Ireland to share the charm and magic of his music with other audiences, and also began appearing in England, Scotland and Wales. In the late '70s, Noel met and formed a partnership with the renowned songwriter Pete St. John. They performed and wrote together for five years.Today Noel lives in Ballybunion, Co. Kerry, Ireland where he performs locally in The Cliff House Hotel. The appeal of Noel's musical mastery and captivating stage presence allows him to continue to tour throughout Ireland and to thrill audiences at Irish festivals across the United States.
