THE BEN HECHT SHOW Extends at Piven Theatre

? Due to popular demand, Grippo Stage Company's hit world premiere THE BEN HECHT SHOW will add four additional weeks of performances, extending through August 14, 2016 at the Piven Theatre at Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St. in Evanston.

The Front Page, Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur's classic 1928 comedy set in the world of the Chicago newspaper business, begins previews on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 with an official opening set for October 20. Directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien, the show will play a limited engagement through Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 W. 44th Street). Sharon Playhouse to Stage BIG RIVER, 7/21-31

Sharon Playhouse, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Simpkins and Managing Director Justin Ball, proudly presents the Tony Award-winning musical Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, with performances July 21 through July 31 at Sharon Playhouse (49 Amenia Road). Opening Night is Thursday, July 21 at 7:00pm.

MTC to Honor Two-Time Tony Winner Nathan Lane at 2016 Fall Benefit

Lynne Meadow and Barry Grove have announced that Manhattan Theatre Club will present its 2016 Fall Benefit, honoring two-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane, on Monday evening, November 7 at 583 Park Avenue (63rd Street and Park Avenue).

The fascinating life of Chicago newspaperman turned legendary playwright, screenwriter and novelist Ben Hecht takes center stage in Grippo Stage Company's world premiere of THE BEN HECHT SHOW, written and performed by James Sherman and directed by Dennis Za?ek. Based on Ben Hecht's books A Guide For the Bedevilled and A Child Of the Century, in which Hecht confronts his own identity as an American Jew in the wake of the Nazi Holocaust, THE BEN HECHT SHOW will play June 10 - July 17, 2016 at Piven Theatre at Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St. in Evanston.
