George Flanigen IV, award-winning music video director/producer and chairman of the board for the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, will launch the 2012-13 "Get Inforumed" music industry speaker series on Monday, Oct. 1 at 5 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium in Monroe Hall. The forum, which is part of the Department of Music Industry Studies at Loyola University New Orleans, is free and open to the public and will be streamed live online at http://www.cfmae.org/category/forums/.
Botanicum Seedlings, Theatricum Botanicum's new play development program, celebrates its 10th Anniversary with SeedlingsFest 2012, offering Theatricum audiences and company members an opportunity to sample fresh new works, plus seasonal gourmet treats and live music. Subtitled a "Festival of (short) Playreadings," SeedlingsFest features two days of plays from emerging and award-winning playwrights interpreting this year's theme, "Hybrids & Heirlooms" - a nod to Seedlings' ten years of supporting plays of varying styles and forms, from traditional to wildly experimental and everything in between. SeedlingsFest 2012 takes place Saturday and Sunday, October 20 and 21, at 2 pm. Admission is free; donations will be gratefully accepted.

The Chicago Commercial Collective has announced its first production, the remount of the Chicago and Broadway hit drama, A Steady Rain, will tour Wisconsin and Michigan this fall. Currently, A Steady Rain completes its successful nine-week run at the Chicago Dramatists Sunday, Sept. 2.

Polarity Ensemble Theatre's Dionysos Cup Festival of New Plays has apparently reached the proper vintage to bear multiple fruit. This summer two scripts developed in the Dionysos Cup series will see their world premieres playing simultaneously, the series itself adds video thanks to an award from the Saints, another Dionysos Cup play has gone on to further development with the Goodman Theatre, and Polarity will award this year's Cup to a worthy and entertaining new script.
The Chicago Commercial Collective has announced the return of the Chicago and Broadway hit drama, A Steady Rain, with its original cast and crew to the Chicago Dramatists, 1105 W. Chicago Ave. The production, written by Keith Huff and directed by original director Russ Tutterow, runs Saturday, July 7 - Sunday, Sept. 2. Previews are July 7 at 8 p.m. and July 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. Opening/Press night is Tuesday, July 10 at 7:30 p.m. The regular run is Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now and are $40 (preview tickets are $35) and may be purchased online at www.asteadyrainchicago.com.
