Oratorio Society of New York to Open 141st Season at Carnegie Hall, 11/4

The Oratorio Society of New York, the city's standard for grand choral performance, launches its 141st Carnegie Hall concert season with two pillars of choral grandeur: Mozart's Requiem, in the original Sussmayr edition, and Mendelssohn's rarely-performed secular cantataDie erste Walpurgisnacht (The First Walpurgis Night), conducted by Kent Tritle, on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 8:00 PM.

New York Live Arts will present, as part of the Replay Series, works by Molissa Fenley spanning more than thirty years of her choreographic experiments in two varied programs tonight, October 2 - 5 at 7:30pm, with a lecture demonstration October 5 at 3:00pm. Fenley will present the world premiere of Found Object, the reconstructed solos The Floor Dances and Witches' Float, and the quartet Energizer, bridging her choreographic past with the present.

Neighborhood Classics to Present Pianist Kathleen Supove, 11/8

Neighborhood Classics presents versatile contemporary music pianist Kathleen Supove in concert on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 7pm, at P.S. 142 on the Lower East Side (100 Attorney Street). Supove's diverse program includes Reflets dans l'Eau (from Images Book 1) by Claude Debussy, Cakewalking (Sorry Claude) by Daniel Felsenfeld, Long Distance Call by Randall Woolf, Disney Remixes by Matt Marks, Piano Miniatures by Mohammed Fairouz, and Feux d'Artifice (from Preludes, Book II) by Claude Debussy. The performance will be hosted by James Matheson, composer and Neighborhood Classics Artistic Director at P.S. 142. All ticket sales for this one-hour, family-friendly concert benefit the host school.

Naxos of America, Inc. is partnering with the Nashville Symphony to provide free online music resources to educators who attend the Symphony's Young People's Concerts. Each year, more than 17,000 public, private and home-school students attend this free concert series at Schermerhorn Symphony Center, which combines the thrill of live music with key educational concepts. Participating teachers are provided with downloadable curriculum, lesson plans and other classroom materials designed to enrich in-school learning - all completely free of charge.

Serving to introduce the community to many creative disciplines of the humanities, 'Faith & Culture' focuses on music, literature, history, film and theatre, and fine art. Several prominent individuals in the music community, considered innovators and highly-regarded experts, have committed to be a part of this season. All lectures will take place at 7pm and attendees are invited to special Meet-and-Greet Receptions with the artists afterwards.

New York City Ballet Hosts 2013 Fall Gala Tonight

New York City Ballet's annual Fall Gala will celebrate dance and fashion with three world premiere ballets, and costumes designed by some of the fashion world's most exciting talents. The one-time-only gala evening will take place tonight, September 19, 2013, and this year's participants include choreographers Benjamin Millepied, in collaboration with the Dutch designer Iris van Herpen; Justin Peck, who will create a new ballet featuring costumes by the acclaimed New York-based fashion designer Prabal Gurung; and Angelin Preljocaj, who will work with Olivier Theyskens, the Belgian-born designer who is the Artistic Director of the American fashion house Theory.

New York City Ballet will open its 2013-2014 season tonight, September 17 with six performances of Peter Martins' full-length production of Swan Lake. Set to Tschaikovsky's score and featuring sets and costumes by the acclaimed Danish painter Per Kirkeby, the production was last performed by NYCB in the fall of 2011 to sold-out houses.
