The Recording Academy will honor its 2016 Special Merit Awards recipients with an awards ceremony and live tribute concert tonight, April 23, 2016 at The Dolby Theater in Los Angeles.

Artistic Director Kelly Thornton and Managing Director Beth Brown have announced Nightwood Theatre's 2016-2017 season. In our 37th season we have assembled a full playbill representing some of the most dynamic female voices working in theatre today. Nightwood is proud to support and partner with the ever-burgeoning community of independent artists that are developing high caliber contemporary theatre.

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) and the Merce Cunningham Trust present an evening of film and live performance celebrating Merce Cunningham's early collaborations that revolutionized art making in the 20th century, on May 18 and 19 at 7:00PM at BAC's Jerome Robbins Theater (450 W. 37th Street).

A diverse can't-miss lineup blending sounds of the past and present will ignite the stage for 'GRAMMY Salute To Music Legends,' taking place Saturday, April 23, at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

Reinforcing the role of The Music Center as a major hub for dance in Los Angeles, The Music Center's powerful new dance season will engage both dance lovers and those new to the art form by challenging preconceived notions of classical ballet and exploring the realm of contemporary expression. The 2016-2017 season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center (Dance at The Music Center) will provide the platform for some of the finest U.S. dance companies and artists along with internationally renowned companies who are among the most requested by Music Center audiences. This coming season opens with Celebrate Forsythe (October 21-23, 2016) as three American ballet companies - San Francisco Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet and Houston Ballet - perform in one program in a never-before-seen approach to salute one of America's top choreographers, William Forsythe. The season continues with the distinctive contemporary work of Jessica Lang Dance (February 17-19, 2017); the return of the much-in-demand Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (March 8-12, 2017); the west coast premiere of Scottish Ballet's A Streetcar Named Desire (May 19-21, 2017); Eifman Ballet of St. Petersburg's exploration of the passions of Tchaikovsky (June 23-25, 2017); and an original program curated by New York City principal ballerina Tiler Peck with the return of The Music Center's BalletNow (July 28-30, 2017). A number of the engagements will be integrated with arts education programs including high school performances and teacher workshops. Center Dance Arts is the founding supporter of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center.

Initial performers announced for 'GRAMMY Salute to Music Legends' include Lila Downs, Earth, Wind & Fire, Andy Garcia and The CineSon All Stars, Lucrecia, Martina McBride, and JD Souther.

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts continues its Composer Portraits series with Hannah Lash, featuring JACK Quartet, loadbang, and pianist Lisa Moore, on Today, April 7, 2016 at 8 p.m.

Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts announces a new music reality television series, DESPERATE MEASURES. Composers battle it out for the chance to be the next big name in new music, beginning Tuesdays this fall at 9pm, immediately following THE VOICE. Single tickets to Lincoln Center Festival shows-highlights this year include legendary stars of Japan's all-female musical troupe, Takarazuka, in Takarazuka CHICAGO; Jonathan Pryce as Shylock in Shakespeare'sGlobe production of The Merchant of Venice; Balkan superstar Goran Bregovic and his raucous Wedding and Funeral Orchestra; and the National Ballet of Canada performances of Christopher Wheeldon's The Winter's Tale-will go on sale to Friends of Lincoln Center on April 1 and to the general public on April 11. The festival runs from Wednesday, July 13 through Sunday, July 31, 2016, with 49 performances by artists and ensembles from seven countries taking place in seven venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus.

Piano music by Beth Anderson and Laurie Spiegel will be presented by Joseph Kubera tonight, March 25, at 7:30 PM at National Opera Center, 330 Seventh Avenue in Manhattan. This is presented by Jeffrey James Arts Consulting in cooperation with the composers.

The premiere of One Rhinoceros, Three Birds and a Pineapple and the company's critically acclaimed Balkan Dreams will be among five works presented by Tina Croll & Company at the 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Festival, Buttenwieser Hall, Today, March 18 through Sunday, March 20.

Fulcrum Point New Music Project, Chicago's leader in New Art Music led by Stephen Burns, proudly presents "Proclamation! From June 1-15 in both Philadelphia (Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts) and New York (Roulette in Brooklyn), PRISM-dubbed 'one of America's finest saxophone quartets for three decades' by The New Yorker -- will partner with the PARTCH Ensemble and So Percussion, and composers Ken Ueno, Steven Mackey and Stratis Minakakis to perform, explore, and record a new body of music combining saxophones with a breathtaking range of percussion instruments in COLOR THEORY.

Ensemble ACJW-an inspirational collective of young professional classical musicians that was created in 2007 by Carnegie Hall, The Juilliard School, and the Weill Music Institute in partnership with the New York City Department of Education-makes its debut at National Sawdust on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m. with an ambitious one-hour program of contemporary music. The performance is the first in a three-concert residency at National Sawdust, an exciting new venue dedicated to contemporary music located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, with upcoming dates in May and June.
