The New Group has announced four productions for its 2017-2018 Season.

Rite of Summer Music Festival continues its seventh stellar season with John Cage's prepared-piano masterpiece "Sonatas and Interludes," featuring pianists Phyllis Chen, Blair McMillen, Anthony De Mare, and Pam Goldberg performing two free shows at 1pm & 3pm on Saturday, June 24th.

Make Music New York is back with its 11th year of free, outdoor, public concerts all around the city today, June 21, the first day of summer.

Tickets are on sale for the US debut for SOULPEPPER, Toronto's largest and most celebrated theatre company, in a four-week engagement Off-Broadway at The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street in New York City. A true repertory program of plays, musicals and concert performances, featuring a company of over 65 artists, the festival, entitled SOULPEPPER ON 42nd STREET, will be presented July 1-July 29, 2017. La Jolla Playhouse, nationally-renowned for its commitment to the development of new work and new theatrical forms, is pleased to announce the dates and selected projects and collaborators for its third Without Walls (WoW) Festival of immersive and site-based work.

Richard Alston's newest creation comes to Sadler's Wells as part of a triple bill. Chacony is inspired by the richness and nobility of Henry Purcell's Chaconne, and Britten's tribute to it.

Blair McMillen and Pam Goldberg are thrilled to present the seventh season of the Rite of Summer Music Festival, taking place Summer 2017 on Governors Island, New York City. Rite of Summer will present free outdoor concerts Memorial Day weekend through August.  In a locale The New York Times has called a "Playground for the Arts," the aim of the Festival is simple: to present the highest quality live performances, and to bring free contemporary classical music to as many people as possible in a relaxed, fun, outdoor setting.

Two-time Tony Award-winning choreographer and National Medal of Arts winner Bill T. Jones brings his innovative contemporary company to UC San Diego's ArtPower for Play and Play: An Evening of Movement and Music for one performance only, Thursday, May 25, 8 pm. Accompanied by a live score, Jones' extraordinary choreography highlights the joy of musicians and dancers working together. The New York Times has raved about Jones' work, 'rarely has one seen a dance company throw itself onto the stage with such kinetic exaltation.' Choreographer Miro Magloire's New Chamber Ballet will bring its 2016-17 series to an end with performances June 10 at 8 PM and June 11 at 7 PM, and a Magloire premiere to John Cage's 'Cheap Imitation' for violin.   The Company welcomes dancer Kristine Butler, who previously danced with the Charlotte Ballet II, Romanian National Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet.

Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival has added two more opportunities for audiences to experience Trisha Brown Dance Company. Originally a five-performance run, August 16-19 in the Ted Shawn Theatre, the Pillow has added a Thursday matinee to the company's schedule. Members of Trisha Brown Dance Company will also perform the site-specific work Trisha Brown: In Plain Site at the Clark Art Institute on Sunday, August 13, a co-presentation of Jacob's Pillow Dance and the Clark. An icon of American dance with extensive Jacob's Pillow connections spanning more than 30 years, choreographer Trisha Brown died March 18, 2017. In a New York Times obituary, chief dance critic Alastair Macaulay wrote “Few dance inventors have so combined the cerebral and sensuous sides of dance as Ms. Brown did, and few have been as influential. Her choreography…helped shape generations of modern dance creators into the 21st century.”

Pianist Kate Boyd will be in concert, performing works by Sofia Gubaidulina, Elaine Agnew, Bach, Chopin and Prokofiev on Wednesday, May 17 @ 8:00 PM at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, 57th St. and 7th Ave. in New York, NY.

In conjunction with The Museum of Modern Art's exhibition Robert Rauschenberg: Among Friends (May 21-September 17, 2017), Pulitzer prize-winning composer David Lang and the music collective Bang on a Can will present a pair of concerts on Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, May 24 at 7pm at the museum's T1 (Titus 1) Theater (11 W 53rd St.), featuring commentary exploring these artistic exchanges and their legacy for contemporary music.
