Next Theatre to Open 33rd Season with COMPULSION, 10/10-11/17

Next Theatre Company announces the first production in their 33rd season, Rinne Groff's Compulsion, October 10 - November 17, directed by Devon de Mayo, at Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes Street. Previews are Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 11 at 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. Opening Night is Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. There are Saturday 4 p.m. performances October 27 and November 3, 10 and 17. Preview tickets are $25, Tickets are $30 - $40 with subscriber and student discounts available. Tickets may be purchased at nexttheatre.org or by calling 847-475-1875 x2.

Silver Spring Stage Presents 2013 One-Act Festival 8/8-8/25

Silver Spring Stage presents 2013 One-Act Festival, an exciting collection of one-act plays, all unpublished, many by local playwrights. Each weekend features different plays that showcase humor and passion. The festival producers are Pam Burks, Jacy D'Aiutolo and Bob Scott. The 2013 One-Act Festival will perform weekends August 8 to 25. 2013 One Act Festival Silver Spring Stage is located in the Woodmoor Shopping Center, lower level (next to the CVS) at Colesville Road and University Boulevard. Ticket prices are $20 for adults and $18 for seniors and students. Performances are Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8:00 PM and Sundays at 2:00 PM. Tickets can be purchased at www.ssstage.org. The Acting Company features an ensemble of veteran CST actors which includes Kate Buddeke, David Darlow, Kevin Gudahl, Scott Jaeck, Ora Jones, David Lively and Mike Nussbaum. MIDSUMMER Opens Tonight at the Clurman Theater, 1/9-1/26

The Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation is thrilled to announce the NY premiere of the critically-acclaimed production of MIDSUMMER [A PLAY WITH SONGS], written and directed by David Greig, with songs by Gordon McIntyre, from the Traverse Theatre in Scotland. MIDSUMMER comes to NY as the 2012 co-winner of the Best of Edinburgh Award given annually by the Carol Tambor Theatrical Foundation. (This year, the award is shared with Mies Julie, currently running at St. Ann's Warehouse).

The Goodman Adds Five Performances to SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH

Goodman Theatre adds five performances of Sweet Bird of Youth by Tennessee Williams, extending through October 28 with its current company intact. Chicago native director David Cromer's production stars Academy Award nominee Diane Lane as Alexandra del Lago, an aging Hollywood screen siren on a journey with an unlikely soul mate, and Broadway's Finn Wittrock as Chance Wayne, an ineffectual drifter whose youth and promise have begun to fade.

Goodman Theatre opens its 2012/2013 Season with a major revival of Williams' 1959 play directed by Chicago native David Cromer. As previously announced, Academy Award nominee Diane Lane portrays Alexandra del Lago, an aging Hollywood screen siren on a journey with an unlikely soul mate, Chance Wayne (Broadway's Finn Wittrock)-an ineffectual drifter whose youth and promise have begun to fade.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today casting for its 25th Anniversary Season finale, William Shakespeare's rarely produced Timon of Athens, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and featuring Tony Award winner Ian McDiarmid in the title role. Performed in CST's Courtyard Theater from April 24 to June 10, 2012, Gaines' production also features Sean Fortunato as Flavius, James Newcomb as Apemantus and Danforth Comins as Alcibiades.

Profiles Theatre Announces Extension for ASSISTED LIVING

Profiles Theatre announces the third and final extension for their hit world premiere of Assisted Living by Deirdre O'Connor, directed by Profiles Artistic Director Joe Jahraus. The critically acclaimed production has been extended an additional four weeks, through March 18, 2012, at Profiles alternate venue The Second Stage, 3408 N. Sheffield in Chicago.
