There are two things you should know about me: I am a musical theatre lover, and I love to schmooze with actors and composers. I am very fortunate to live in the DC area where our theatre community is growing by leaps and bounds. There are so many productions opening in September in DC, Maryland and Virginia theatres, my head is spinning trying to figure out which ones I will see.
Arena Stage presents The Quality of Life, written by playwright and Emmy Award-winner Jane Anderson and directed by Lisa Peterson (Arena's The Rainmaker). In this 'magnetic work of theater' (San Francisco Chronicle) filled with compassion, honesty and humor, we find two couples dealing very differently with devastation.

Since it began in 1987, 23 editions of the Annual Easter Bonnet Competition have raised nearly $39 million for BC/EFA.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will present the 23rd Annual Easter Bonnet Competition on Monday, April 27 (4:30 PM) and Tuesday, April 28 (2 PM) at the Minskoff Theatre (200 West 45th Street). The proceeds from the event will benefit BC/EFA.

Phylicia Rashad has been announced to step into the role of Violet Weston in the Broadway production of August: Osage County. Rashad will follow Deanna Dunagan and Estelle Parsons in the part and will join the show on May 26.

Tracy Letts' August: Osage County, winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize and 2008 Tony Award, will begin a Senior Rush ticket offer starting on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. The will be first time a show will be offering rush tickets to seniors.
Tickets at $46.50 will be made available at the box office two hours prior the performance time on the day of the performance only. The Senior Rush offer is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 pm (Senior Rush tickets available starting at 5:30 pm) and Wednesdays at 2 pm (Senior Rush tickets available starting at 12:00 pm). (Beginning, January 6, 2009, Tuesday performances are at 7:00 pm.).
