The 2013 - 2014 jazz season at Segerstrom Center for the Arts welcomes the debut of the Fred Hersch Trio this weekend, May 2 & 3 in Samueli Theater.

Alonzo King, the celebrated contemporary ballet company, is guided by its uniquely global artistic vision. Alonzo King's visionary choreography is renowned for its ability to connect audiences to a profound sense of shared humanity-of vulnerability and tenderness, but also of furious abandon and exhilarating freedom. The program includes Concerto for Two Violiins, Writing Ground, and Rasa, set to an original score created and performed live by tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain.

Musical Mondays continued at Le Cirque Cafe last night with the Diane Marino Quartet featuring Harry Allen. M&M Records Recording Artist Diane Marino has recorded, performed, and shared the stage with jazz legends Houston Person, Joe Henderson, Wycliffe Gordon, Harry Allen, Pete Escovedo, Tania Maria, Kirk Whalum, pop music icon Felix Cavaliere and more.

The world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis arrives at Segerstrom Center for the Arts tonight, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall.

Celebrity Series of Boston will present jazz ensemble The Spring Quartet tonight, March 6, 2014, at 8:00pm at Sanders Theatre, Memorial Hall, Harvard University, 45 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA. This performance is sponsored by Amy and Joshua Boger and Tufts Health Plan.

On Saturday, April 5 at 9:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall, guitarist Romero Lubambo, bassist Nilson Matta, and drummer Duduka da Fonseca-the three renowned Brazilian musicians that make up Trio da Paz-perform a program featuring the works of famed Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim and celebrated American tenor saxophonist Stan Getz. The trio, known for its innovative take on Brazilian jazz, is joined for this program by tenor saxophonist Harry Allen, vibraphonist Joe Locke, and vocalist Maucha Adnet. This concert is presented by Carnegie Hall in partnership with Absolutely Live Entertainment LLC.

The world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis arrives at Segerstrom Center for the Arts on Friday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. The much admired and critically acclaimed orchestra performs the music of Count Basie and Duke Ellington for its return visit to the Center.
