A crush can make anyone feel young again - even a widower named Ralph. On an ordinary day in a routine life, Ralph decides to take a different path on his daily walk…one that leads him to an unexpected second chance at love. Relying on a renewed boyish charm, Ralph attempts to woo the elegant, but distant, Carol. Defying Carol's reticence - and his lonely sister's jealousy - Ralph embarks on the trip of a lifetime, and regains a happiness that seemed all but lost. BWW Review: STAGEright's TOXIC AVENGER – Fun but as Solid as Toxic Waste
by Jay Irwin
- Sep 19, 2016
There's nothing wrong with a bit of mindless fun at the theater. Some of my happiest memories are sitting in a darkened theater laughing hysterically at Mormons or man eating plants or oversexed puppets. But while the fun in those instances may be base and mindless they were all still backed up by a well crafted and well put together show and that's where "The Toxic Avenger Musical", currently being offered from STAGEright, falls flat. Sure, it's goofy, in your face, over the top fun but appealing to our love of things a little bit gross and repeatedly calling someone a slut cannot replace good writing and pacing.

BWW Review: Raleigh Little Theatre's MEMPHIS
by Jeffrey Kare
- Aug 22, 2016
Loosely based on the life and career of Dewey Phillips, one of the first disc jockeys to have ever played black music on the radio in the 1950's, Memphis tells the story of a white radio DJ who wants to change the world and a black nightclub singer who is ready for her big break.
EDINBURGH 2016 - BWW Review: F*CKING MEN, Assembly George Square Studios, 11 August
by Adam Robinson
- Aug 21, 2016
Straight from selling out in London comes a King's Head Theatre play by Joe Dipietro. F*cking Men is a modern interpretation of Schnitzler's 19th-century play La Ronde. A play which caused great controversy at the time now retold through the lives of men who have sex with other men. Gay, Straight, Married, and Escorts, all interlinking characters have one connecting trait, they all agree "Why does any dude have sex with strangers? Because it feels fanf**kingtastic" as one character puts it. Three actors play the multi-character script, switching between roles like a well-oiled machine. Each is skilled and versatile, even though some very unnecessary badly chosen accents can leave you distracted.
