So, with stomachs happily full, we headed over to the Shubert Theater on a rainy night. The mood in the lobby and the audience though was fantastically upbeat for this beloved show. I'm happy to report that MEMPHIS, which I originally saw in previews, is in great shape, with performances, choreography, scenic elements, lighting and costumes in as sharp of shape as any show on Broadway could ever hope to be. Interestingly enough, the US national touring production of MEMPHIS opened October 16th at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis, TN. Yesterday, October 19, MEMPHIS celebrated its second anniversary on Broadway. On hand to celebrate at Glass House Tavern were MEMPHIS creators David Bryan and Joe DiPietro along with their Tony winning cast including Chad Kimball, Montego Glover, Derrick Baskin, J. Bernard Calloway, James Monroe Iglehart, John Jellison, and Nancy Opel.

Tony Award Winner for Best Musical in 2010, the national touring company of Memphis makes its way to Nashville's Tennessee Performing Arts Center for a limited November 15-20 run at Andrew Jackson Hall, fresh off its kick-off in the city that gave the show its name.
