At age 11, she made her television debut singing on her mother's series, 'The Judy Garland Show.' At 16, already a seasoned performer, she shared the bill with her mother on Broadway in a month long concert engagement at New York's Palace Theater. I had the chance to chat with Ms. Luft as she was preparing for her upcoming engagement in the desert. Her are some excerpts from the conversation:

The Times Square Alliance announces the return of Taste of Times Square - an outdoor food and music festival - featuring international flavors from the district's top restaurants and the city's best street performers at the Crossroads of the World. More than fifty of Times Square's most popular culinary destinations will offer "tastes" ranging from $2-$6 on Monday, June 1 from 5:00 - 9:00pm. The event will be on 46th St. between Broadway and 9th Avenue (including historic Restaurant Row) as well as the Broadway Plazas between 45th and 47th Streets.

The circus is coming to the Durham Performing Arts Center from May 12th-17th in the form of the national touring production of the Tony Award-Winning revival of Pippin! In this national tour happens to be John Rubinstein, who originated the title role in the orginal Broadway production back in 1972. Now he plays Pippin's father Charlemagne, a role originated on Broadway by Eric Berry, and more recently in the 2013 Broadway revival Three-Time Tony Nominee by Terrence Mann.
As the hit West End show Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, directed by Sam Mendes, approaches its second anniversary, producers today announced the cast that will take it into its third year. Alongside Jonathan Slinger as Willy Wonka will be Kraig Thornber (Grandpa George), Lara Denning (Mrs Bucket) and Mark Oxtoby (Jerry), among other new names. Originating company members Ross Dawes and Derek Hagen will take over the roles of Mr Salt and Mr Bucket respectively.
'Hudson Valley Honor Flight: Generation Bridge' tells the story of the local Honor Flight hub that takes World War II veterans to Washington D.C. to visit the monuments in their honor. It's a day-long celebration that gives the veterans the coming-home party they never received. It also follows the veterans as they visit local schools to talk to teenagers about World War II and what it was like to fight it.
