Nesbit's novel The Railway Children begins performances tonight, Tuesday 16 December 2014 at 7.30pm, with the news that the booking period is being extended to 6 September 2015 at its new home, the King's Cross Theatre in London. The new booking period will open on Friday 19 December. There will be a press night on 14 January.

The Olivier Award-winning production of Mike Kenny's stage adaptation of E. Nesbit's novel The Railway Children will be returning to London on 16 December 2014, but moving to a new home, the King's Cross Theatre, where a purpose built 1,000-seat theatre, complete with a railway track and platforms, and with a state of the art heating system, will be specially created. The site, on King's Boulevard, behind King's Cross Station, has been loaned to the production for the duration of the run by Google, who own the land. The York Theatre Royal production, which is in association with the National Railway Museum, will once again feature a live 60-tonne steam locomotive and Gentleman's Carriage. The Railway Children, which previews from 16 December, with a press night on 14 January, is booking until 1 March 2015. Open auditions for children aged between 9 and 13 to star in the children's ensemble were held on Saturday 18 October at Jacksons Lane Arts Centre, and BroadwayWorld has photos below! Directed by Pilot Theatre's Artistic Director Marcus Romer and co-produced with Derby Theatre and Theatre Royal Stratford East, Antigone will premiere in Derby on the 19 September, where it plays until 4 October before touring nationally until 29 November. The production will then open in London at Theatre Royal Stratford East on 19 February 2015.

Damian Cruden's Olivier award-winning production of The Railway Children today announces a final extension to its run at Waterloo Station having reached an agreement with BRB (Residuary) Ltd to run until 8 January 2012. With audiences sitting either side of a real railway track, the 1000 seat Waterloo Station Theatre was created especially for this production in the old Eurostar Terminal. Award-winning designs are by Joanna Scotcher lighting by Richard G. Jones, music by Christopher Madin and sound by Craig Vear.
