Dennis Grimaldi will present Tony®Award-winner Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd) in two staged readings ofHarry Townsend's Last Stand, a new play by George Eastman. On Monday, May 7th The League of Professional Theatre Women (Kelli Lynn Harrison & Lisa Rothe, Co-Presidents), an organization which has been leading the gender parity conversation and championing women in the professional theatre for over 35 years, presented the final Oral History event of their 2017-18 season with two-time Tony Award winner Chita Rivera in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts (111 Amsterdam Avenue at 65th Street). Conjuring the image of a lonely all-night truck stop along Highway 1 on the California coast, all but lost in the fog that comes creeping along the shoreline, "Sister Orchid" speaks of the night, the outsider, the plaintive wail of those lost at sea. "Sister Orchid" was conceived in solitude, executed in darkness.
Trump in Space, winner of the 2017 Hollywood Fringe Festival Encore! Producer's Award, has announced the second extension of its run of Friday nights at The Second City Hollywood Studio Theatre. They gained membership to numerous private men's clubs that heretofore were off limits to women. The Friars, being one of the more famous of the bunch had an article heralding the event written by a less than factual reporter for The New York Times. The paper of record, in an early forerunner of fake news only listed the first 7 women and overlooked number 8...Jamie deRoy who was in that initial group, along with Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers, Brooke Shields, and other prominent female entertainment figures was not mentioned.

The visiting production opens on Saturday, April 21, at 8pm and the engagement will continue through Sunday, June 10.
Playwright Joshua Harmon is finally returning to the Geffen Playhouse, the scene of his 2015 runaway hit BAD JEWS. This time he's bringing his SIGNIFICANT OTHER, after having finished successful runs both on Broadway and Off. We got the chance to catch cast members Will Von Vogt and Melanie Field during their final rehearsals.
