When you're catching the touring production of a show you saw with it's original cast on Broadway, you hope that the folks on tour will be up to par at least somewhat. Such was my fear catching the touring company of the Tony Award winning Best Musical "A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder" currently playing at the 5th Avenue Theatre especially for one quite daunting role where the actor must play nine different people. Well, luckily the touring company was completely up to the task especially in that one role making for a hilarious and rousing evening that only did honor to my memory of the original.

This weekend's big news: Will Swenson stars in THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, beginning tonight at Barrington, THE BODYGUARD returns to London with Beverley Knight, and more!

Creators Tim Federle, Chris Miller and Nathan Tysen are joined by cast members Andrew Keenan-Bolger, Michael Park and Michael Wartella.

The Public Theater and Donmar Warehouse's production of PRIVACY, co-created by James Graham and Josie Rourke, written by James Graham and directed by Josie Rourke began performances on Saturday, July 2 and runs through Sunday, August 14, with an official press opening on Monday, July 18. Bucks County Playhouse's second production of the summer season, the high-energy Rock & Roll musical 'Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story,' is directed by Tony nominee Hunter Foster with choreography by Lorin Latarro. This show been seen by over 22 million people worldwide, and is hailed as the most successful rock musical of all time. 'Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story' opened at Bucks County Playhouse (70 S. San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre plays host to the provocative and still darkly daring, Cabaret now through July 17. Set in 1931 Berlin, on the cusp of all that was to come with the rise of the Nazis, the Kander and Ebb musical revolves around the Kit Kat Club and its cast of characters who are determined to ignore the outside world. 'We have no troubles here! Here, life is beautiful,' shouts the garishly made-up emcee. He and the club's performers do their best to convince us that indeed, 'life is a cabaret' and, for a moment in time, it seems to be true. Yet they set aside the warning signs at their own peril. Coming directly from Broadway and originally directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall, SHNSF's Cabaret is a spectacular sleight of hand, giving us sinfully sexy performances even as the real depravity lies in wait like spider outside the doors of the Kit Kat Club.

The best of Broadway will be performing FREE on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with '106.7 LITE FM's Broadway in Bryant Park 2016' - a lunchtime series kicking off thisThursday, July 7  (12:30pm)on the Bryant Park Stage. Fun Home, the groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning Best Musical, will play a one-night-only benefit concert performance at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (445 S Magnolia Ave) in Orlando on their night off on Sunday, July 24, its producers announced today. This performance will be a concert version of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical to raise money for Equality Florida and the LGBTQ community of Orlando.
