Roundabout Theatre Company presents Mike Bartlett's (King Charles III) new play, Love, Love Love, directed by Michael Mayer. The cast includes Richard Armitage (The Hobbit), Alex Hurt (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Zoe Kazan (The Seagull), Ben Rosenfield ('Boardwalk Empire') and two-time Tony nominee Amy Ryan ('The Office,' A Streetcar Named Desire). At long last, Nick Kroll and John Mulaney's wildly popular alter egos, Gil Faizon and George St. Geegland, have made their debuts on The Great White Way in their acclaimed masterpiece, Oh, Hello on Broadway at The Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street). Performances for Oh, Hello on Broadway began on Friday, September 23 with opening night set for Monday, October 10. The show will run through January 8, 2017. Alex Timbers directs. The underappreciated art of sound design takes center stage in Simon McBurney's THE ENCOUNTER, a dramatization of Petru Popescu's book "Amazon Beaming" that comes off more as a demonstration of technological capabilities than engaging storytelling.

Direct from London and an international tour, Complicite's acclaimed production of The Encounter, conceived, directed and performed by Simon McBurney, opens tonight at Broadway's John Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street). The production began performances on September 20 and will play a limited engagement through January 8, 2017.

The musical WICKED is officially 12 years old, but it isn't showing its age in the slightest.  If anything, in the current political climate, the far away Land of OZ feels more real than ever, and the political issues that drive Elphaba to become The Wicked Witch, draw a spooky parallel with current news stories.  That's not to say that this show is all doom and gloom, but rather just an incredibly smart prequel to the much-loved Wizard of Oz with some of the catchiest and most powerful songs ever.  Marry an excellent story with a phenomenally talented cast, fantastic sets and a powerful orchestra and you have a production that continues to amaze even through multiple viewings.  The national tour of Wicked has resulted in nearly 17 million people watching this show, and it's a pretty safe bet that most of those people would like to see it again.

American Theatre magazine, published by Theatre Communications Group (TCG), has released its annual October Season Preview issue, which includes lists of the Top 10 Most-Produced Plays and Top 20 Most-Produced Playwrights for the coming season. Robert Askins' Hand to God will be the most-produced play, with 13 total productions, and August Wilson will be the most-produced playwright, with 18 total productions.
