Tickets Go on Sale Tomorrow for Broadway's SCHOOL OF ROCK - THE MUSICAL

Tickets for the Broadway production of School of Rock-The Musical go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, June 11.  School of Rock-The Musical will begin preview performances on Broadway Monday, November 9, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening set for Sunday, December 6, 2015.

School of Rock-The Musical may not hit Broadway until later this year, but a select group of people are currently getting a sneak peek at the Grammercy Theatre to watch an early version of the new musical. Andrew Lloyd Webber Kicks Off SCHOOL OF ROCK Preview Concerts Tonight

Creator Andrew Lloyd Webber has invited guests (scroll down to read the full, official invitation letter!) to the Grammercy Theatre to watch an early version of SCHOOL OF ROCK-THE MUSICAL. Tickets are now on sale for the preview concerts, scheduled for tonight, June 3 at 7:30pm, tomorrow, June 4 at 7:30pm, Friday, June 5 at 7:30pm and Saturday, June 6 at 2:00pm.

According to the New York Times, creator Andrew Lloyd Webber has invited guests to the Grammercy Theatre to watch an early version of the new musical. He writes in the invitation: 'Someone up there in cyberspace has intimated that you might be interested in an invitation to a rather unusual theater event. The very first incarnation of 'School of Rock' will be a staged, actually highly staged concert at the Gramercy Theater for just a few performances.' The article also reveals that the show, which begins previews on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, will star Alex Brightman (Wicked, Big Fish, Matilda) as substitute teacher, Dewey. Additional casting has not yet been announced. 

Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Announces 2014 Nominees, Special Awards

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2014 (Dec. 1, 2013 - Nov. 30, 2014). The 46th Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Beyond the Stars Palace, 417 N. Brand Boulevard in Glendale.

It's a Long Way to the Top- Andrew Lloyd Webber's SCHOOL OF ROCK Holds NYC Open Call for Kids Today!

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, School of Rock-The Musical, will soon have its World Premiere on Broadway. Previews will begin on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening set for Sunday, December 6. Today, January 24, hundreds of musically gifted children will gather at the Winter Garden for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to join the most famous kid band of all time. An open casting call will be held today, where hundreds of kids will try to rock, whale, strum and drum their way to Broadway glory on the stage of the Winter Garden Theatre (former home, for nearly 18 record-shattering years, to Andrew Lloyd Webber's Cats). An additional open casting call for young performers will take place in Chicago on Saturday, January 24 at Actor's Equity Association (557 W. Randolph Street). John Cariani's LOVE / SICK Begins Next Month at Royal Family Performing Arts Space

Almost Maine is one of the countries most produced plays, this February; Royal Family Productions (Katie Avebe, Mary Bernardi, Chris Henry and Andy Theodorou, Founders) will present the New York premiere of John Cariani's follow-up play LOVE / SICK. Directed by Chris Henry and featuring choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter, LOVE / SICK will begin performances on February 6 and open on February 9 through February 26, 2015 at Royal Family's new home in Times Square at Royal Family Performing Arts Space (145 West 46th St.). Broadway-Bound SCHOOL OF ROCK to Launch Coast-to-Coast Casting Search

School of Rock-The Musical is launching a coast-to-coast search for its new, Broadway-bound class of pint-sized rock stars, offering the once-in-a-lifetime chance to join the most famous kid band of all time. A massive open casting call will take place in New York on Saturday, January 24 at Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre (1634 Broadway), on the stage where the show is set to have its world premiere later this year. Additional open casting calls for young performers will take place in Los Angeles on January 17 at Screenland Studios (10501 Burbank Blvd.) and Chicago on Saturday, January 24 at Actor's Equity Association (557 W. Randolph Street). All open calls begin at 10:00 a.m. (local time), with sign-in at 9:00 a.m.

Breaking News: Andrew Lloyd Webber's SCHOOL OF ROCK Will Open on Broadway in December 2015!

The Really Useful Group, Warner Music Group & Access Industries, The Shubert Organization, and The Nederlander Organization announced today that School of Rock-The Musical, will have its World Premiere on Broadway. Previews will begin on Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Winter Garden Theatre, with an opening set for Sunday, December 6. Based on the smash hit 2003 film of the same title, School of Rock will feature music from the movie, as well as new music written byAndrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Glenn Slater, with a book by Julian Fellowes. School of Rock-The Musical will be directed by Laurence Connor (currently represented on Broadway by Les Miserables).

The Suzi Bass Awards, Inc. revealed nominations for the 2013-2014 Atlanta professional theatrical season this evening to theatre patrons and industry artists. The Suzi Nomination Party, which rotates venues, was hosted this year by Actor's Express in the King Plow Arts Center of Atlanta. Guest announcers included performers Christy Baggett, Laura Cole, Danielle Deadwyler, and Tess Malis Kincaid.

STAGE TUBE: 'We Go Together' - Paper Mill Playhouse's GREASE Audience Tries to Scat

Paper Mill Playhouse concludes its 75th Anniversary Season with America's favorite musical, GREASE. With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease will be directed by Daniel Goldstein with original choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter. Additional songs are by John Farrar, Barry Gibb, Scott Simon and Louis St. Louis. Grease plays the Millburn, New Jersey, theater through June 29, 2014.
