On Thursday, Abingdon Theatre Company celebrated the opening night of THE MOTHER OF INVENTION, a new play written by James Lecesne about how one family deals with the effects of Alzheimer's. Directed by Tony Speciale, the company includes Concetta Tomei, James Davis, Dan Domingues, Angela Reed, Isabella Russo and Dale Soules, with performances set to run through February 26. Concetta Tomei, best known for her roles on TV's China Beach and Providence and on stage in The Elephant Man (opposite David Bowie) and Sarah Ruhl's The Clean House, leads the cast of Abingdon Theatre Company's world premiere of THE MOTHER OF INVENTION, a new play by Academy Award, Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award-winner James Lecesne, as Dottie Nerber.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the West Coast premiere of Hand to God written by Robert Askins and directed by David Ivers. The Broadway smash hit and Tony Award-nominated play begins previews on Friday, February 3, and the show runs through Sunday, March 19. Individual tickets begin at $29 and can be purchased online at berkeleyrep.org or by phone, 510 647-2949. Press night will be on Friday, February 10.

The critically acclaimed off-Broadway hit The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, written by and starring James Lecesne, the writer of the Academy Award-winning film Trevor comes to the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts for a limited performance engagement Friday, December 2 through Sunday, December 4.

In honor of NYC Pride 2016, 92Y presents a one-night-only performance of The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, the award-winning play written and performed by James Lecesne, directed by Tony Speciale, with original music by Spring Awakening's Tony Award-winning composer Duncan Sheik. The play has scenic design by Jo Winiarski, lighting design by Matt Richards, sound design by Christian Frederickson, projection design by Aaron Rhyne, original animation & photography by Matthew Sandager, and costumes by Paul Marlow.

Veteran New York actor and writer James Lecesne portrays every character in a small Jersey shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. As he interviews the people from Leonard's life, Lecesne transforms himself into each of them with a quick turn of his body, completely changing his voice and physicality as be morphs from male to female, young to old. It is an amazing tour-de-force one-man performance that will enthrall you as several characters are brought fully to life without the use of costumes or props.

The critically acclaimed off-Broadway hit THE ABSOLUTE BRIGHTNESS OF LEONARD PELKEY, written by and starring James Lecesne, the writer of the Academy Award-winning film Trevor, begins a limited 23 performance engagement at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, tonight, January 13. The show runs through January 31, 2016 (press opening Thursday January 14).
