Popular tunes such as 'Adelaide's Lament', 'If I Were a Bell', and 'Luck Be a Lady' by Frank Loesser add color and insight to the characters. Writer Damon Runyon invented Broadway - and Broadway invented the American Musical! Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) will open its 2011 Nutmeg Summer Series with the classic American musical, Guys and Dolls based on Runyon's comic tales of Broadway running June 2-12 in the Harriet S. Jorgensen Theatre (Lower Jorgensen).

Bay City Players will present Guys and Dolls, a Musical Fable of Broadway based on a Story and Characters of Damon Runyon with Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser and Book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, April 28-May 1 and May 5-8, 2011 at the Bay City Players, 1214 Columbus Avenue, in Bay City. The production will close on May 8 at 3:00 p.m.

The popular hit musical GUYS AND DOLLS opens at the Manatee Players on February 17 and plays through March 6. Performances are Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 including facility fee for adults and $11 including facility fee for students. Tickets may be reserved by calling 748-5875 Monday - Friday from 9-5 and one hour before curtain on performance days or on the Manatee Players' website: www.manateeplayers.com. All performances are at 102 Old Main Street in downtown Bradenton.
