The third annual AMERICAN COUNTRY AWARDS will air live from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas Monday, Dec. 10 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX. Then later that evening at 8 pm, see Nancy Atlas live in concert. Tickets are $15 per person available at the door.

Indian Ranch is turning its annual summer beach party with Changes in Latitudes into a benefit for Harrington HealthCare at Hubbard in Webster. In March, Harrington HealthCare launched a fundraising campaign to rebuild and expand the Emergency Department at its Webster campus. Every $15 ticket purchased to today's September 2nd party at Indian Ranch will result in a $20 contribution to the campaign, thanks to a $4 million matching grant.

I first fell in love with Barbara Cook when I was a small child and was taken to see Plain and Fancy. What I remember to this day from that show is Barbara Cook coming onstage in a turquoise Lincoln Continental. The car had a black leather interior and she was dressed to match - turquoise sheath dress with black shoes, belt and hat. It was my ideal picture of what being a grown-up woman should be like (still is). Even though, I saw her many times after that and realized what a beautiful voice she possesses, that picture of her has never left my mind.
