In 1999-2000, The New Group presented the premiere of Marc Wolf's solo documentary play, Another American: Asking and Telling, which won an Obie award and went on to tour the country. Ten years later, The New Group revisits this influential piece of theater in the context of the ongoing debate about the U.S. policy on LGBT citizens in the military.

Last night, Monday, May 10, The New Group opened their latest production of The Kid. This marks the final production in The New Group's current 2009-2010 season, which featured Kenneth Lonergan's The Starry Messenger and most recently, the hit revival of Sam Shepard's A Lie of the Mind, directed by Ethan Hawke. The Kid plays a limited Off-Broadway engagement through May 29 at The New Group @ Theatre Row. BroadwayWorld was on hand to capture the opening night after party arrivals.

As previously reported, Shrek vet Christopher Sieber will lead the cast of The Kid for The New Group. Based on the book by Dan Savage entitled The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant, the new musical The Kid features music by Andy Monroe, book by Michael Zam and lyrics by Jack Lechner. Today it has been announced that the first preview has moved from April 10 to Friday, April 16. Official Opening is now Monday, May 10 at 7:00 (moved from May 6, announced previously). Final performance is May 29.

The New York Times is reporting that Shrek vet Christopher Sieber will star as sex columnist Dan Savage in The New Group's production of The Kid, a new musical based on Dan Savage's book The Kid: What Happened After My Boyfriend and I Decided to Go Get Pregnant. The New York Times has revealed that the York Theater's production of ENTER LAUGHING, based on the semi-autobiographical novel by Carl Rainer about a young actor managing his life and women, that ran off-Broadway last season will head to the Great White Way in the 2010 - 2011 season. No theater has been booked.
