Imagine the worst, most awkward family reunion you have ever attended......and then count yourself lucky, because the Verdeen family reunion in the upcoming comedy The Red Velvet Cake War at the Old Opera House, directed by Will Heyser, will make your worst family reunion look like a paradise, with plenty of laughs along the way.

This is the type of show that you take your girlfriends to, or your mother and sister or your daughter. The Dixie Swim Club explores the wonderful friendships that can happen between women if they just put forth the trust and effort, and lay aside the unimportant differences and embrace each other as family, instead of someone disposable.

Little Fish Theatre today announced the productions slated for the coming year, ten plays and an evening of shorts, selected to delight, amaze and entertain.

The twentieth season of Broadway Onstage Live Theatre and the thirty-third, and final, season of Dennis Wickline Productions, Inc. continues with the return of CHRISTMAS BELLES, a delightful Holiday Comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten when it opens on Friday, December 6 at the Eastpointe Theatre. Running Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm through December 21, the production will also be offered during two special 2pm Sunday Matinees on Sunday, December 8 and Sunday, December 15.

Last October, I visited Sam Bass Theatre for the first time. They were producing The Hallelujah Girls, a Southern screwball comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, and I was instantly impressed at the company's ability to bring zany characters to life. It's now a year after my first visit to Sam Bass. Once again, they're staging a comedy by Jones, Hope, and Wooten, and once again, I'm impressed. Their current production of The Red Velvet Cake War is so delectable and delicious, it could only be improved if the audience were fed some complimentary red velvet cake.

The Little Colonel Players open their 57th season with Southern Hospitality by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten. Directed by Jeff Mangum, the show features Sharon Cardwell, Anthony Chaffin, Rick Fletcher, Martha Frazier, Katie Hay, Jeff Mangum, Michael McCollum, Emily Miller, Janet Morris, Candy Thomas, Jayme Thomas, Charles Wade and Teresa Wentzel. The show runs October 3, 4, 5, 11, 12 at 8PM; October 6 and 13 at 2:30PM.

The Alhambra Theatre & Dining will feel like the beaches of North Carolina this August as it opens The Dixie Swim Club, a heartwarming comedy about the power of friendship by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope & Jamie Wooten. The play focuses on five Southern women who met on their college swim team and for 30 years have set aside a long weekend every August to meet up at the same beach cottage on North Carolina's Outer Banks to recharge their relationships. Free from their husbands, children, and jobs, the ladies catch up, laugh and meddle in each other's lives.

For its sixth and final production of the 2012-2013 season, ROSS VALLEY PLAYERS presents The Dixie Swim Club, a sassy comedy about friendships between women that last a lifetime. Five girlfriends set aside a weekend every August and meet on North Carolina's Outer Banks to reconnect, gossip, laugh, and meddle in each other's lives. Focusing on four weekends spanning a period of thirty-three years, this comedy takes a poignant and surprising turn, demonstrating the strength and loves these women share. Written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope, and Jamie Wooten, The Dixie Swim Club begins with a preview on Thursday, July 18 and runs through Sunday, August 18.
