Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company kicks off its 31st season with the 2010 Tony-nominee and Pulitzer Prize-finalist, In the Next Room or the vibrator play, written by Sarah Ruhl, directed by DC-favorite Aaron Posner. The show runs August 23 - September 19; Wednesdays - Saturdays at 8pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm.

Casting has been announced for the Washington-area premiere of the award-winning new gospel musical comedy Sanctified, playing the historic Lincoln Theatre for a limited engagement, October 21 through November 14.

Washington, D.C.'s Studio Theatre has announced the complete casting for its production of Passing Strange, which will run July 14 through August 8. Keith Alan Baker and Victoria Murray will co-direct the musical, written by Stew and Heidi Rodewald, with music direction by Christopher Youstra and choreography by Helanius Wilkins.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company continues Season 30, the 2009-10 Season, with a creative staging of FULL CIRCLE by Charles L. Mee (Big Love, bobrauschenbergamerica) that will be performed throughout the Woolly facility.

Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company is spending SEASON 30, it's 30th season of producing provocative new plays in the nation's capital, looking forward to the future of 30 more years, with a few glances back to celebrate some of the theatre's noteworthy achievements. Programs during the course of SEASON 30 include exploring new ways to engage with audiences and the DC community at large, as well as growing the theatre's new play development initiatives, all in keeping with Woolly's mission to 'ignite an explosive engagement between theatre artists and the community.'

The Fall theatre season in the DC area is in full bloom. As the leaves are turning, there is a colorful group of shows opening this month. There are so many, so where do I begin? Here are shows that I am looking forward to seeing, and remember I am a musical theatre lover who likes to sprinkle in a play or two - here and there - so don't get mad if I don't choose one of the plays you are looking forward to seeing. Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company will present the world premiere of ECLIPSED by Danai Gurira (Co-creator of In the Continuum) August 31 - September 27. Opening night is set for September 6. The production is directed by Liesl Tommy (The Good Negro, Public Theatre) and featuries Company Members Jessica Frances Dukes and Dawn Ursula.
