Michael Aaron Lindner & Summer Naomi Smart to Lead Chicago Shakespeare Theater's SHREK Shrek; Full Cast Announced!

Chicago Shakespeare Theater (CST) announced today the acting company and creative team for Shrek The Musical, the Theater's annual summer family musical, directed and choreographed by Rachel Rockwell with music direction by Michael Mahler, July 13-September 1, 2013 in CST's Courtyard Theater. Based on the Academy Award-winning DreamWorks film and the book by William Steig, CST's 75-minute production ofShrek The Musical will take audiences on an unconventional fairy-tale adventure with everyone's favorite ogre. The production features two Jeff Award-winning actors: Michael Aaron Lindner as the lovable ogre Shrek and Summer Naomi Smart in her CST debut as the spunky Princess Fiona. In support of Mayor Emanuel's Summer of Learning Program, special activities will be offered in conjunction with Shrek The Musical for students to earn a "Bard Badge."

Writers' Theatre Stages THE LIAR, Now thru 7/28

Writers' Theatre will present THE LIAR, tonight, May 21 - July 28, 2013 at 325 Tudor Court, Glencoe, Ill. The Liar by David Ives, adapted from the comedy by Pierre Corneille, will be directed by William Brown.

Drury Lane Theatre Presents BOEING-BOEING, Beginning 6/13

Drury Lane Theatre, 100 Drury Lane, presents the Tony Award-winning 2008 Broadway revival version of the hit comedy BOEING-BOEING, previewing June 13, opening Thursday, June 20 at 8 p.m., and running through August 4, 2013. BOEING-BOEING stars Saturday Night Live alum Nora Dunn as"Berthe" (Dunn was Meryl Streep's co-star in the Nancy Meyers film It's Complicated; her TV credits include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Entourage, Private Practice, Psych and Franklin & Bash; and she recently starred in Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron's play Love, Loss and What I Wore at the Broadway Playhouse in Chicago).

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS Returns to Walnut Creek in June

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS, described as the provocative and wickedly funny theatrical adaptation of the C.S. Lewis novel about spiritual warfare from a demon's point of view, will return to Walnut Creek after playing to capacity audiences in October 2009. The limited engagement will run at the Hoffmann Theatre, Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Drive in Walnut Creek, on Friday, June 21 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, June 22 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and Sunday, June 23 at 3 p.m.

American Theater Opens Revised SPEECH & DEBATE Remount Tonight

American Theater Company concludes 2012-2013 Season with a revised remount of Speech & Debate, written by Stephen Karam, and directed by Artistic Director PJ Paparelli. Speech & Debate will run tonight, May 10 - June 23, 2013, at American Theater Company, 1909 W Byron St, Chicago, IL. Press opening is Monday, May 13, at 7:00 pm.

The witty script and lyrics by playwright/lyricist Joe DiPietro and composer Jimmy Roberts showcase a dizzying spectrum of male/female relationships as four actors journey through a hilarious series of vignettes which cleverly explore the trials and tribulations of single life, dating, marriage, loss and heartbreak. The laugh-inducing, award-winning production will be directed and choreographed by Matt Raftery.

Arizona Theatre Company to Close Its Season With CLYBOURNE PARK

Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) closes its 2012-2013 season with the eagerly anticipated Arizona premiere of Bruce Norris' multi-award-winning, provocative new comedy, "Clybourne Park." Performances will be held at The Herberger Theater Center in downtown Phoenix May 2 through May 19, 2013. ATC season sponsors are I. Michael and Beth Kasser. Phoenix production sponsor is Zazu Pannee Park Regent.

National Tour of THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS Returns to Indianapolis in June

THE SCREWTAPE LETTERS will return to Indianapolis by popular demand for two performances only, after a sold-out engagement in March 2012. The production will run at the Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler University, 4602 Sunset Avenue, Indianapolis, Saturday, June 1 at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
