Their leader is an enigmatic hero known only by his calling card: the red, star-shaped wildflower, the Scarlet Pimpernel. Based on the classic novel by Baroness Orczy, the musical vividly portrays the romance, intrigue and horrors of one of the most tumultuous periods in history, mixing historical fact with dramatic adventure. When disco diva, Deloris Van Cartier, witnesses a murder, she is put in protective custody in the one place the cops are sure she won't be found: a convent! Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang is giving chase, only to find themselves up against Deloris and the power of her newly found sisterhood. The day of reckoning comes when the Internal Revenue Service informs the 'couple' they're going to be investigated. Leslie masquerades as a housewife, aided by Jon's fiancee, Kate. Complicating matters further Leslie and Kate are having an affair behind Jon's back, Jon's mother drops in unexpectedly to meet her son's fiancee, and Leslie's ex girlfriend Connie shows up demanding to know why Leslie has changed and won't see her anymore. Like a cross between I Love Lucy and Three's Company!
