On the Town, the first Broadway musical with music by Leonard Bernstein and written by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, will open the 2008-2009 Encores! season at New York City Center, running November 19 - 23.

North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) has announced that one of the most critically acclaimed musicals of all time, SHOW BOAT, will perform from September 23 to October 12, 2008. Press Night is scheduled for September 25th at 7:30 pm. This project has been made possible by the National Endowment for the Arts as part of American Masterpieces: Three Centuries of Artistic Genius.

Using 64 of Berlin's enduring and popular favorites, I Love A Piano captures the spirit of America from the ragtime era of the early 20th century through the swinging elegance of the 1920's and 30's. From the songs that inspired a nation through the Great Depression to the innocent optimism of the 1950's, I Love A Piano embarks on an enduring journey through musical heaven. Timeless classics, such as 'Puttin' On The Ritz,' 'There's No Business Like Show Business,' 'Change Partners,' 'How Deep Is The Ocean,'God Bless America,' and 'White Christmas,' do more than identify the music of a generation, they define the music of our country. The show will be presented by Eva Price of Maximum Entertainment, Off-Broadway Booking, and Lawrence Toppall.

The Friend Center at the The Jewish Community Center of San Francisco (JCCSF) today announced details of its comprehensive Performing Arts programming for 2008/09. Gateway Playhouse in Bellport remains and is so popular that local residents know better than to drive along South Country Road at certain hours lest they become entangled in traffic either entering or exiting the theater. The Gateway Playhouse is located on the site of the former Mott Estate on the eastern-most tip of Bellport , New York . Rumors are rife about the ghost of Lucretia Mott still haunting one of the buildings on the premises but she seems to be benign and hasn't caused any significant problems in the past few decades.

The 92nd Street Y announces the 2009 line-up for Lyrics & Lyricists™, the Y's legendary American Songbook series. This is the first season curated by new series artistic director DEBORAH GRACE WINER, who created three shows for L&L over the last five years, and is now taking on responsibility for the overall artistic direction of the series. Her inaugural line-up of guest artistic directors features MARTIN CHARNIN, DAVID ZIPPEL, ROBERT KIMBALL, REX REED, and BILLY STRITCH.
