With all due respect to Kelli O'Hara, Paulo Szot, director Bartlett Sher and even Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan, the real star of the Lincoln Center revival of South Pacific is orchestrator Robert Russell Bennett, whose sublime work from the original 1949 production is now enchanting contemporary audiences.

Tomorrow night (March 10) Laura Osnes will assume the role of Ensign Nellie Forbush replacing Kelli O'Hara and David Pittsinger will again take over the role of Emile de Becque.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Andre Bishop, Artistic Director and Bernard Gersten, Executive Producer) has announced today three upcoming cast changes in three featured roles in its award winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, directed by Bartlett Sher at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. Beginning Tuesday, January 6, Andrew Samonsky will assume the role of Lt. The cast and crew of South Pacific celebrated their opening night in style. The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic opened its first ever revival on April 3.

Laura Griffith received the ceremonial Gypsy Robe as the cast member of South Pacific with the most ensemble credits under her belt. Griffith was previously in The Sweet Smell of Success, Oklahoma! and The Light in the Piazza.

Lincoln Center Theater has announced final casting for its upcoming production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific. The production, which begins rehearsals Tuesday, January 22, will be directed by Bartlett Sher. Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, begins performances Saturday evening, March 1. Opening night is Thursday evening, April 3 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.
