Poetic Theater Productions announces the line up for their 5th annual festival of new poetic theater. POETIC LICENSE 2016: A KIND OF NOW begins on Thursday, March 17 and runs through Friday, April 8.  Ticket prices range from $15 - $20; the Bedlam event is free. POETIC LICENSE 2016: A KIND OF NOW takes place at the wild project (195 E. 3rd Street, between Avenues A & B). CONSCIOUS LANGUAGE 2015 Set for the wild project

Poetic Theater Productions presents the second annual CONSCIOUS LANGAUAGE: Workshops, Conversations and Performances on the Power of Language. CONSCIOUS LANGAUAGE is a 5-day generative workshop designed for poets interested in writing poetic theater (by invitation only), which culminates in four evenings of performances and conversation with leaders in the field (open to the public).

Lone Star Theatre Co will presents BIG TEX SHORT FEST, an evening of short plays made quickly. The event features five new short plays by Texas playwrights Emily Comisar, David Davila, Virginia Grise, Kevin Kautzman, and Judith Leora directed by Nilsa Reyna, Daniel Roberts, Benita DeWit, Diego M. Chiri, and Jeremy Karafin.

Poetic Theater's BACK Begins Previews Tonight

Poetic Theater Productions, under the direction of Co-Artistic Directors' Jeremy Karafin and Alex Mallory, has announced that it will stage the world premiere of BACK, a new play written by Mickey Bolmer and directed by Andrew Willis-Woodward, that celebrates and mourns the history of Greenwich Village through the lives and stories of Frank O'Hara, Cookie Mueller, Hibiscus, Nan Goldin and Aaron Burr, among others. BACK features production design by Rachel Klein and begins previews tonight, October 17th at 8PM at the cell, 338 West 23rd St. The official opening is on Thursday, October 23rd at 8PM.

Poetic Theater Productions to Present CONSCIOUS LANGUAGE with Saul Williams, Jose Rivera & More, 8/18-20

Poetic Theater Productions (Jeremy Karafin and Alex Mallory, Co-Artistic Directors) kicks off its 5th season August 18-20 at Wild Project with Conscious Language: conversation and performance on the power of the spoken word curated by emcee/playwright muMs (HBO's 'Oz', upcoming "A Sucker Emcee" at LAByrinth Theater Company) and featuring poet/musician Saul Williams (Broadway's Holler If Ya Hear Me, "Slam"), playwrights Jose Rivera (Marisol, "The Motorcycle Diaries") and Dominique Morisseau (Detroit 67, Sunset Baby), poet/recording artist Ursula Rucker (She Said, Ruckus Soundsysdom, 3 albums with The Roots), director/producer Kamilah Forbes (Sunset Baby, 'Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry', Hip Hop Theatre Festival) and more. Speaking about his impulse to create Conscious Language, muMs says 'My hope is that this festival will be the beginning of an important discussion about the responsibility we have as artists to our community'. In theme with Conscious Language, the Wild Project lobby will host an exhibition of work by influential graffiti artist BOM5.
