Hubbard Street's 39th Season at Harris Theater to Feature Works by Tharp, Cerrudo & More

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton are excited to announce the main company's 2016-17 season performances in Chicago. Tickets to four engagements at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park, located at 205 East Randolph Street in Chicago, are available immediately as a Season 39 subscription; single tickets will go on sale in late summer 2016.

BWW Review: PAUL TAYLOR at Lincoln Center is Stunning and Exciting

See Paul Taylor American Modern Dance at Lincoln Center through April 3rd. The programs presented this season feature repertory dances, two premieres by Taylor and pieces by Martha Graham, Donald McKayle, Doug Elkins and Larry Keigwin. The show we attended was spectacular.

The Public Extends Richard Nelson's HUNGRY

The Public Theater announced a final one-week extension today for HUNGRY, continuing Oskar Eustis' 10th Anniversary season. Play one, part of THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family, written and directed by Richard Nelson, HUNGRY officially opened on Friday, March 4 and has now been extended a final week through Sunday, April 3. Featuring the same core acting company for all three productions, the second play in the cycle, WHAT DID YOU EXPECT?, will premiere in September and the final play in the new cycle, WOMEN OF A CERTAIN AGE, will open on election night, November 8, 2016.

The Rolex Mentor & Protege Arts Initiative Announces 2016-17 Finalists in Dance, Literature, Theatre and Visual Arts

Following a worldwide search for the most outstanding young talents in dance, literature, theatre and visual arts, Rolex recently announced the finalists who will be introduced to the respective mentors - Ohad Naharin (dance), Mia Couto (literature), Robert Lepage (theatre) and Joan Jonas (visual arts) - in the 2016-2017 Rolex Mentor and Protege Arts Initiative.

Metropolitan Opera's 50th Anniversary Season to Feature Bartlett Sher in ROMEO ET JULIETTE, Nina Stemme in New TRISTAN, Gala Concert and More!

The Metropolitan Opera's 2016-17 season, the 50th anniversary of its home at Lincoln Center, will feature 225 opera performances of 26 operas in a varied repertory that ranges from 18th century masterpieces to one of the most acclaimed operas in recent years. Repertoire for the company's 132nd season will include the Met premiere of Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho's 2000 opera L'Amour de Loin, as well as new stagings of Wagner's Tristan und Isolde, Rossini's Guillaume Tell, Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, Dvo?ak's Rusalka, and Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. A gala concert on May 7, 2017 will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company's Lincoln Center location with performances by opera's leading stars honoring the Met's past and future. Ticket prices will not increase, remaining the same as in the current season, and audience development programs instituted by the company in recent years will continue.

Trisha Brown Retrospective Dances Into UW World Series This Weekend

Washington State native Trisha Brown is considered the most widely acclaimed choreographer of the postmodern era. For over 50 years, she pushed the limits of choreographic movement, changing modern dance forever. At 79, Trisha Brown has choreographed her last dances. In celebration of her life's work, Trisha Brown Dance Company returns to the choreographer's home state to perform the final performances of her works for the proscenium stage as part of a retrospective presented by University of Washington's World Series at Meany Hall.

2016 Vilcek Prize in Theatre Goes to Blanka Zizka

The Vilcek Foundation just announced the winners of its annual Vilcek Prizes, recognizing immigrant contributions to the American arts and sciences. The 2016 Vilcek Prize in Theatre, presented to an immigrant artist with a record of major achievement in his/her field, is awarded to Blanka Zizka, the recipient of a $100,000 prize.

Lyric Opera of Chicago presents a new-to-Chicago production of Romeo and Juliet, Feb. 22-March 19, 2016, helmed by Tony Award-winning director Bartlett Sher-who makes his Lyric debut fresh off directing the four-time Tony Award-winning revival of The King and I at Lincoln Center Theater. The Public Theater announced complete casting today for the world premiere three-play cycle THE GABRIELS: Election Year in the Life of One Family, written and directed by Richard Nelson. Featuring the same core acting company for all three productions, Play One: HUNGRY, will begin previews on Saturday, February 27 and run through, Sunday, March 20, with an official press opening on Friday, March 4, 2016. ABT's THE NUTCRACKER Begins Tonight at Segerstrom Center

American Ballet Theatre's The Nutcracker, co-presented by Segerstrom Center for the Arts and ABT, and choreographed by ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, will be given 14 performances at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, tonight, December 10-20, 2015.
