The Off-Broadway production of The Long Shrift, written by Robert Boswell and directed by James Franco, opened last night at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater. The Long Shirt began previews on July 7th and will run through August 23rd. This play is James Franco's directing debut. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced the company's 2014-2015 programming celebrating it's 20th anniversary season. The season will include New York and World premieres by Keith Josef Adkins, Robert Boswell, Sheila Callaghan, Laura Eason, Michael Laurence, Laith Nakli, Scott Organ, Ruben Polendo, and Daniel Talbott.

Directed by Jennifer DeLia, PHOENIX begins performances at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce Street) Monday, July 28, and opens Thursday, August 7. Julia Stiles has officially signed on for the upcoming Mary Pickford biopic, THE FIRST, according to Variety.

Digitalspy.com reports that Jude Law is reportedly set to portray Douglas Fairbanks the an upcoming biopic on the life of actresss Mary Pickford. As previously reported, the role of Pickford will be played by Broadway's Lily Rabe.
