The most recent revitalization of Sunday in the Park with George, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Annaleigh Ashford, opens this Thursday, February 23, at the Hudson Theatre. The beloved Stephen Sondheim musical made its Broadway debut May 2, 1984 at the Booth Theatre, where it ran for 604 performances. The original production starred Mandy Patinkin as George and Bernadette Peters as Dot/Marie. Although it did not win Best Musical at the Tony's, it did take home the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1985.
At a ceremony held today at London's Cafe de Paris, host Steve Furst announced the nominees for the 17th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards, the only major theatre prize-giving decided entirely by the theatregoers themselves.

Casting has been completed for the upcoming concert production of Howard Goodall's The Hired Man. Joining the previously announced Jenna Russell and John Owen-Jones on September 22nd will be Sean Kearns (Wicked, The Commitments) as Pennington, Jessica Louise Parkinson (Love Beyond) as Sally, and James Moore (Matilda) as Harry.
