Broadway's 40 theatres aren't the only places to catch performances from your favorite stars! Well after Broadway orchestras begin their overtures, ensemble members take their dance breaks, and performers belt out their eleven o'clock numbers, the party continues at various cabaret venues throughout New York City. Below, BroadwayWorld brings you some cabaret highlights for this week as picked by our theatre editors, including: A Cabaret Evening with Stephanie J. Block and Aaron Lazar; Ariana DeBose & Kate Rockwell: Badass Broads; Ryann Redmond at 54 Below; Rex Smith: Confessions of a Teen Idol; Jason Danieley: Romantic Notions.

The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) presents its annual Gala celebration on Saturday, October 3 at 6 p.m. at THE BLACK BOX, featuring a special, one-night-only performance by Broadway star Jenn Colella.

Newly minted two-time Tony Award winner and Broadway favorite funny man Christian Borle has joined the ranks of Broadway royalty as he was honored with one of Sardi's legendary portraits. Glenn Casale's history with "Peter Pan" has been one awfully big adventure that's unlikely to end any time soon. The California Musical Theatre Artistic Director headed the Tony-nominated 1999 Broadway revival, which subsequently saw an A&E television broadcast and multiple tours. The show visited Sacramento as recent as 2012, and fans of that version will appreciate pieces of costumes and dance, and even a few cast members, pulled from Casale's Cathy Rigby version for the Music Circus production, now playing at the Wells Fargo Pavilion.

The deVaron Lerangis Family Band (singer/composer/pianist Tina deVaron, and her sons, singer/composer/producer Nick Lerangis of the band, Evening Darling, and teacher/musician/historian Joe Lerangis of the American School of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia) will perform one show at Caffe Vivaldi tonight, July 9th from 7-8pm. Caffe Vivaldi is in Greenwich Village at 32 Jones St, between West 4th and Bleecker. Call (212) 691-7538 for more information. This is a very special event, and advance planning is highly recommended, as the room is small.

La Jolla Playhouse recently announced a second week-long extension for its season opener, Come from Away, a world-premiere musical featuring book, music and lyrics by award-winning husband-and-wife team David Hein and Irene Sankoff, and directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. The production runs now through July 12 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

After auditioning performers in New York City, Los Angeles and Sacramento, California Musical Theatre has confirmed casting for all six shows in the 65th Music Circus season. The stellar cast for the season is loaded with Broadway veterans, some of whom are making their Music Circus debuts, Tony nominees and audience favorites from previous Music Circus productions.

LezCab, formerly a cabaret series, is now a non-profit theatre company, with the mission to create an accurate and meaningful representation of queer women in musical theatre in order to foster equality and community. LezCab produces cabarets, new works, re-imagined classics, and social and networking events by, for, and about queer women in musical theatre.

This just in! La Jolla Playhouse has announced the cast and creative team for its season opener, the world-premiere musical Come from Away, featuring book, music and lyrics by the Canadian husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein (My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding), directed by Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley. A co-production with Seattle Repertory Theatre, Come from Away will run May 29 - July 5 in the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre (press opening Thursday, June 11).
