Broadway in South Africa Holds Final Program with Chicago Children's Choir this Month

Since 2009, Broadway South Africa has conducted empowerment through the arts programming in disadvantaged communities throughout South Africa. The organization has raised close to $500,000, helping to improve the lives and future's of student's dramatically affected by poverty, violence, abuse, and HIV/AIDS.

Award-winning composer Jeff Thomson made his debut at 54 Below with 'Go Where The Love Is' last week, January 20. The evening will highlight material from the upcoming musicals Pump Up the Volume, Trails, and Jawbreaker, as well as several yet-to-be-revealed projects. 'Go Where The Love Is' at 54 Below, 1/20

'Go Where the Love Is,' a star studded musical show with the music of Jeff Thomson will be performed at 54 Below on Monday, January 13th at 9:30 pm. The show is produced by Ashley Kate Addams, directed by Jen Bender with musical direction by Joshua Stephen Kartes.

NVC Presents LEAVING HOME with Malcolm Gets & More Tonight

The New Voices Collective is excited to present the world premiere of Leaving Home - a triple bill of three one-act musicals with music by Jonathan Larson Award-winner Sam Davis (Bunnicula) and book and lyrics by Drama Desk-nominee Sean Hartley (Cupid and Psyche). An amazing cast includes Stanley Bahorek (Spelling Bee, Big River, February House), Sarah Corey (Illyria, Caroline, or Change) Malcolm Gets (The Good Wife, Blue Bloods, Amour, The Apple Tree), Edward Hibbert (Frasier, Curtains, Drowsy Chaperone) Kirsten Scott (Follies, Hairspray), A.J. Shively (La Cage aux Folles) and Sally Wilfert (Assassins, Make Me A Song, See Rock City).

The Dallas Pops, American Airlines Center and CBS Radio just presented an epic-size concert event at the American Airlines Center on March 23. The show Do You Hear the People Sing featured the music of Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, in a Broadway-style concert on a scale seldom seen. The show was created by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg, composer and lyricist for Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, Pirate Queen, and more. Rory O'Malley, Rebecca Luker, et al. to Perform at NYU, 4/16

New Voice Collective and NYU Steinhardt School, program in vocal performance, present NEW VOICES AT NYU: A Celebration of Songs by NYU Musical Theatre Writers Past and Present Monday, April 16 at 8:00 PM Frederick Loewe Theatre 35 WEST 4TH STREET. The concert will explore work by current composers in the NYU Musical Theatre writing program, as well as work by some of NYU's most exciting and famous alumni.

Lauren Kennedy, Rebecca Luker, et al. Set for IN DEVELOPMENT Concert, 12/12

The New Voices Collective is gearing up for IN DEVELOPMENT: New Songs from New Shows, New Voices' triumphant return to its original home at Peter Norton Symphony Space, this coming Monday, December 12, at 8:00 p.m. An incredible roster of composers have contributed songs from their new musicals, providing a 'sneak peek' at an interesting array of projects, such as Homemade Fusion by Michael Kooman and Christopher Dimond and Bunnicula by Sam Davis and Mark Waldrop.

The Broadway Experience returned for a fourth summer at The Manhattan Movement & Arts Center from July 25th - August 7th. With over 60 classes, workshops, lectures, and a performance based second week, TBE had some very special guest speakers this year, Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth. Both spoke about their lives, careers, experience, and took the time to answer questions and offer advise and inspiration.

The American Songbook Project will launch a new program called 'The Art of Song Performance,' a workshop on July 10th-15th, 2011, in New York City. The summer intensive features classes in all styles of song performance, including Broadway, cabaret, jazz, and contemporary rock songs, taught by a host of luminaries from the theatre and cabaret community.
