TheatreWorks Silicon Valley breaks new ground in 2017 by adding a second holiday show to its season, The Santaland Diaries at the intimate 180-seat Lohman Theatre in Los Altos Hills. Written by David Sedaris, this rollicking one-man cure for an overdose of holiday hype will have a limited three-week run. Sedaris' international career as a memoirist took off when he recounted his short tenure at Macy's as Crumpet the Elf in an essay which he read on NPR's 'Morning Edition' in 1992. Adapted by Joe Mantello, this unique yuletide hit shares the experience of an ill-equipped elf forced to confront child meltdowns, overbearing parents, and complacent Santas. Directed by Jeffrey Lo and starring Max Tachis as David/Crumpet, The Santaland Diaries will be presented December 5 - 23, 2017 (opening nights: December 7-8) at Lohman Theatre, 12345 S. The 2017 awards honor productions which opened between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017. Nominations were completely reader-submitted and after the nomination period ended October 31, BroadwayWorld's local editors proofed the list for eligibility and errors.

March brings Michael Golamco's Cowboy vs. Samurai, a romantic comedy loosely based on Cyrano de Bergerac, to the Pear Theatre (directed by Jeffrey Lo). Travis Park is a high school English teacher and the only Korean American man living in a dusty cowboy town known as Breakneck, Wyoming.

Los Altos Stage Company embraces its role as the quintessential American playhouse by bringing a central work of the American canon to life: Arthur Miller's The Crucible.

Continuing its commitment to developing new works, TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will gather playwrights and composers from across the nation for its 2017 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre, where the public can attend performances, participate in a panel discussion with the artists, and share in the journey of developing new works for the American theatre. TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's Director of New Works Giovanna Sardelli has announced a stellar line-up which includes staged readings of two musicals, three plays, and other special events.

Pear Theatre is proud to announce its 2017-2018 season, an intriguing mix of new works, classics, and even a musical revue. In addition, this season will be the first in the Pear's 16-year history to be under the guidance of a new Artistic Director, Betsy Kruse Craig.

Theatre enthusiasts packed the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts tonight to hear Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley and Managing Director Phil Santora of TheatreWorks Silicon Valley unveil the lineup for the company's 48th season.

Beneath the Tall Tree, written by local artists Adrienne Walters and Jeffrey Lo, and directed by Joy Carlin, continues TheatreFIRST's mission of producing and presenting in-house new works as their means of social justice.

Fresh off its production of the Obie Award-winning Circle Mirror Transformation, Los Altos Stage Company lines up another Obie recipient (2008 for playwriting) with David Henry Hwang's Yellow Face. Yellow Face opens January 26 and runs through February 19 at the Bus Barn Theater in Los Altos.

The cast and crew of DADDY LONG LEGS at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley gave the popular Mannequin Challenge a go with the help of one of their very enthusiastic student matinee audiences. Check out the video below!

Mark your calendars: City Lights is planning a new festival of fresh theater for April 28-30, 2017. 'Lights Up! Three Days of New Plays' will introduce theatergoers to exciting new voices in the Bay Area playwriting scene, presenting full-length and one-act plays, and a series of shorts.
