Tierney Sutton Pays Homage to Joni Mitchell at The Cabaret at the Columbia Club Tonight

In her most daring and revealing project to date, five-time Grammy nominee, Tierney Sutton, pays homage to the revered pop singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell in After Blue: The Joni Mitchell Project. Sutton puts her unique stamp on Joni Mitchell tunes going back to 'Both Sides Now' and 'Big Yellow Taxi' to more recent numbers like 'The Dry Cleaner from Des Moines,' 'Be Cool,' and 'Don't Go to Strangers.' Collaborating with Tierney this evening is Mark Summer on cello and Serge Merlaud on guitar.

CSO to Perform Final Works of Mozart & Strauss, 4/11-12

On this special Easter-season program, the CSO and Music Director Jean-Marie Zeitouni will show how two great composers concluded their careers and bid farewell to earthly life. In the Requiem that 35-year-old Mozart left unfinished, he offered a compelling mixture of beauty, anguish, majesty, and drama. At 84, Richard Strauss looked back over a long, brilliant career in the achingly nostalgic Four Last Songs. Program will also feature guest soprano Susan Gritton and the Columbus Symphony Chorus, as well as a performance of Wagner's Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan and Isolde.

The Ziegfeld Society will present A SALUTE TO ROCKETTE HISTORY II today, March 15th, an original musical revue which tells the history of the precision dance line founded in 1925 by choreographer Russell Markert, inspired by The Tiller Girls in THE ZIEFELD FOLLIES OF 1922, and their evolution from their early beginnings as The Missouri Rockets to the Roxyettes to the now legendary Rockettes. The production will have musical direction by Mark York (musical director of Jim Dale's upcoming Roundabout production JUST JIM DALE), written. directed and choreographed by former Rockettes Mary Six Rupert and Karyn Tomczak.

Sasha Cooke to Perform with Greenwich Village Orchestra, 2/9

On Sunday, February 9 at 3:00pm, The Greenwich Village Orchestra, led by Metropolitan Opera conductor Pierre Vallet, will perform a concert to include excerpts form Berlioz's The Damnation of Faust, Ravel's Sheherazade with Grammy Award-wining mezzo-soprano Sasha Cook, and Brahms' Symphony No. 4. Now in its 27th season, the ensemble performs at Washington Irving Auditorium (40 Irving Place) near Union Square.
