Light Opera of New York presents the first NYC staged production since 1920, and the premiere recording by Albany records, utilizing the original orchestrations, of Victor Herbert's 'ORANGE BLOSSOMS', based on the play by Frederique de Gresac, with lyrics by B.G. de Sylva. Tonight and tomorrow, April 25, 26, 2014 7:30 PM at Symphony Space Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theatre, 2537 Broadway, NYC. Adapted and Directed by Michael Phillips, (NYC Opera), with Musical Direction and arrangements by Evans Haile, (Long Time Cape Playhouse Producing Director).

"ORANGE BLOSSOMS" was decades ahead of its time in its "post-feminist" point of view where divorcees remain happily divorced toying with their men, while enjoying their trust funds. The score was Herberts last stage show, and includes the classic "A Kiss in the Dark". It was based on Frederique de Gresac's play "La Passarelle".

Casting includes Ben Liebert, ("Wicked"), Glen Seven Allen, ("The Light in the Piazza"), David Kelleher-Flight,(NYC Opera), Natalie Ballenger, Sarah Best,Sara Callinan, Lisa Flanagan, and Jean Marie Lally. Costumes are by Bettina Bierly (NYC Opera), and Millinery by Ellen Christine.

Light Opera of New York, was founded in 2006 as a professional not-for profit company devoted to the performance of staged operettas and operetta concerts. www.lightoperaofnewyork.org.
