'The Scariest' Creeps onto Off-Broadway; Opens March 6

The Exchange (formerly Jean Cocteau Rep) takes on some of the greatest horror stories in history with the Off-Broadway premiere of The Scariest. This evening length collection of new plays by Kristin Newbom, Laura Schellhardt, Mark Schultz, and Gary Sunshine is based on the works of Nathaniel Hawthorne, W.W. Jacobs, Hans Christian Anderson, and 'The Book of Revelations.' Opening Night is March 6.

Oberon Ensemble Presents 'Winter Rep 08' Line-Up

The Oberon Theatre Ensemble will present their annual winter show Winter Rep 08. This year the company presents Shakespeare's classic tragedy Macbeth in rep with Michael Weller's Ghost on Fire. Performances begin on February 14th at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street).

Matt Castle & Gusty Winds at 'The After Party' Tomorrow Night

Tomorrow, January 11, 'The After Party' welcomes Matt Castle (Company) and 2005 Miss Fire Island Entertainer of the Year Gusty Winds. Doors open at 10:30PM, show begins at 11PM. 'The After Party' takes place every Friday night at The Laurie Beechman Theatre at the West Bank Café (407 w42nd St.). Admission is free

Magic of Theatre Design at LLGAF Gallery Nov.14-Dec.22

A dazzling array of some 150 theatrical set and costume design models and sketches will be on display in StageStruck: The Magic of Theatre Design at Leslie/Lohman Gay Art Foundation Gallery from November 14 to December 22.

Lipton's 'Goodbye April, Hello May' Begins June 28

Roadworks Productions NY will present the world premiere of Ethan Lipton's new play Goodbye April, Hello May. Patrick McNulty will stage the production set to open on the mainstage of HERE Arts Center beginning June 28, 2007

Gurland Does Garland Plays the Beechman, June 17

David Gurland and the Laurie Beechman Theatre are presenting Gurland Does Garland, an evening of songs made famous by Judy Garland. The show will take place Sunday, June 17th at 7PM, at the West Bank Cafe's Laurie Beechman Theatre, as part of the DGUR Concert series, and in celebration of Gay Pride Week in New York.

Schwartz' 'God's Ear' Premieres May 2 Off-Broadway

God's Ear, a full-length play written by Jenny Schwartz (Cause for Alarm) and directed by Anne Kauffman (Soho Rep's The Thugs), will see its world premiere Off Broadway at the East 13th Street Theater, 136 East 13th Street (between 3rd and 4th Avenues).

Forgotten Play by Sarah Bernhardt to Receive US Premiere

A forgotten play by Sarah Bernhardt, The Confession, will be given its United States premiere by the Xoregos Performing Company at Wings Theatre in an eleven performance two week run between April 12-21, 2007.

Off-Bway's Jean Cocteau Repertory Theater Folds

After over thirty-five years in the theatre business, leading Off-Broadway company the Jean Cocteau Repertory Theater has closed. The owners of the Bouwerie Lane Theater, home of the Jean Cocteau since 1974, had recently doubled the theater's rent. There is no word yet on who will be the next tenant to occupy the space.
