An adaptation of Kate DiCarmillo's award-winning book The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane opens the 16/17 season for Imagination Stage in Bethesda, MD. While well-acted and presented, the story isn't necessarily for everyone.

The Rainbow Theatre Project's Generation Q Staged Reading Series continues with a presentation of two works by British playwrights, beginning with the short play MR. FANTASTIC, by Kevin Jones (Wales), followed by the award-winning BEAUTIFUL THING by Jonathan Harvey (England).

It's not easy to maintain a balance in dark comedy.

1st Stage, Tysons Corner's award-winning professional theater, announces the extension of the world premiere Now Comes the Night by playwright E.M. Lewis.  Artistic Director, Alex Levy directed the production at 1st Stage.    

You'd hardly identify E.M. Lewis' world premiere, NOW COMES THE NIGHT, opening the season at First Stage in Tysons as a part of the Women's Voices Theatre Festival.

The rich language and music, coupled with emotionally-charged acting, and a compelling story make CHOIR BOY one to see.

What I hoped would be a period piece by now after seeing it ten years ago at New York's Public Theatre, Take Me Out is taking on a vibrant new life at Tyson Corner's 1st Stage. Opening their lucky seventh season, the play is a poignant exploration of expectations, character and how we look at courage.

PINKALICIOUS, at the Adventure Theatre - Musical Theater Center, in Glen Echo Park, directed by Carl Menninger, based on Victoria and Elizabeth Kann's children's novel, and adapted by the authors, with music and lyrics by John Gregor, is a winner. Although it is aimed at young children, it has plenty to delight parents and older kids as well.

The Welders present their first production, Allyson Currin's The Carolina Layaway Grail, a post-modern comedy about a world peopled with sorcerers, sidekicks, villains, and incompetent bureaucrats.
