Shrek The Musical will spread goodwill and cheer this festive season. On Thursday, December 15, 2011, students from Blessed Sacrament RC Primary School, Islington treated audience members to Christmas carols following the matinee performance at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
AVENUE Q is the three-time Tony Award-winning musical about a group of 20-something people and puppets fresh out of college who move to New York City with big dreams and tiny bank accounts.
After a triumphant, six-year run on Broadway, AVENUE Q moved to New World Stages, opening there on October 21 and continuing to play to large houses filled with enthusiastic audiences eight times a week. On the occasion of its second anniversary, AVENUE Q played its 835th performance at New World Stages. In the photo below, Rod celebrates Thanksgiving!

When you see Stephen Karam's new play Sons of the Prophet at the Laura Pels Theatre, it will be a first-class production of a play that makes you laugh in spite of yourself and a story that is alternately hilarious and heartbreaking.
Like a warm Snuggie on a cold winter night or a decadent dessert to a calorie counter, sometimes we all just want to cater to our own basest pleasure centers that simply crave comforting, entertaining shows full of good ol' plain, silly fun. This same idea explains why macaroni and cheese makes for a great combo... why the excitingly mindless 'Summer Movie' was invented... and why SHREK THE MUSICAL made me laugh for most of its two-and-a-half-hour running time. Now playing at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts through October 16, this amusing, big-kid-friendly musical based on the popular 2001 DreamWorks animated film delivers the laughs not with beguiling snark but, rather, with fart battles, cheeky sight gags, and a sassy attitude that intermittently seeks to distract you from its flaws. Entertaining, yes, but hardly groundbreaking.
The Tony Award winning musical AVENUE Q will feature $25 tickets to audience members wearing an article of clothing from their college alma mater to the musical's 'College Night' performance on Wednesday, September 21st at 8:00pm.
