Only on Broadway it is normal to spot Walter White and Harry Potter within blocks of each other. That's right, this season's stunning slate of plays has brought with it a slew of stars from Bryan Cranston to Daniel Radcliffe, Audra McDonald to James Franco, Tyne Daly to Denzel Washington. In just weeks, a whole new group of productions will have officially opened- adding ten new plays to the Broadway roster. Ranging form literary classics to brand new works, this spring's new plays include: A Raisin in the Sun, Act One, All the Way, Casa Valentina, The Cripple of Inishmaan, Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, Mothers and Sons, Of Mice and Men, The Realistic Joneses, and The Velocity of Autumn. Previews begin tonight, Saturday, March 8, at 8pm for the return to Broadway of Tony Award-winner and two-time Academy Award-winner Denzel Washington starring as Walter Lee Younger in Lorraine Hansberry's A RAISIN IN THE SUN. This new production begins previews nearly 55 years to the day that A RAISIN IN THE SUN had its Broadway premiere (March 11, 1959) at the same theatre, the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). Opening night for A RAISIN IN THE SUN is Thursday, April 3 at 6:45pm. The 14-week limited engagement runs through Sunday, June 15.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed that acclaimed actress Diahann Carroll has withdrawn from the upcoming Broadway revival of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, directed by Kenny Leon, and also starring Denzel Washington. LaTanya Richardson Jackson will assume the role of Lena Younger in the production, currently in rehearsals.

While 'Lee Daniels' The Butler' is generating Oscar buzz for its chronicle of several decades of African- American political life, two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright August Wilson masterfully documented a full century of the African-American experience in the 10 plays the make up the American Century Cycle. These works, nine of which have been staged on Broadway with stars including Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Charles Dutton, among many others, showed the suffering, joys, and triumphs of African-Americans through searing, poetic and personal stories of everyday people in Pittsburgh, PA.

Signature Theatre is pleased to announce a final one-week extension for THE PIANO LESSON by August Wilson, which has already been named to Best of 2012 lists by The New York Times, The New Yorker and Time Out New York. The production, directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago-Hudson, was originally scheduled to conclude its run on December 9 and already extended three times through January 13. It will now play through Sunday, January 20. The production opened on Sunday, November 18 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues) to critical praise. Tickets during the extension weeks are $75 each.
