After two sold-out shows, Karen is back to take you on a rockin' musical journey through her personal transformation as inspired by Janis Joplin. With anecdotes and Joplin songs including "Mercedes Benz," and "Bobby McGee," Irwin pays homage to the musical icon that changed her life. The concerts run July 25 at 8PM and July 26 at 7PM at The Cabaret at the Columbia Club, located at 121 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, IN.

The Theatre World Awards are presented annually at the end of the theatre season to six actors and six actresses for their significant, reviewable, debut performances in a Broadway or Off-Broadway production. The ceremony is a private, invitation-only event followed by a party to celebrate the new honorees and welcome them to the Theatre World 'family.' In what has become a highly entertaining and often touching tradition, 12 previous winners serve as the presenters, and often relive moments from past ceremonies and share wonderful stories rarely heard at other theatrical awards. Extensive window displays as well as a storewide presentation of Broadway memorabilia run through June 30th at thePaul Stuart flagship located at Madison Avenue at 45th Street. The exhibit features photography by Martha Swope(the celebrated chronicler of Broadway and only photographer to ever be presented a Tony Award), illustrations byKen Fallin (whose great caricatures of Broadway theatre regularly grace the pages of The Wall Street Journal), and both design sketches and a carefully curated selection of the costumes designed by 5 time Tony winner (and Chairman of the American Theatre Wing) William Ivey Long. It's that time of year, and I can't help but wonder if your CD collection and iPod are Tonys ready. This Broadway season has some really interesting contenders in the musical categories, and to get you ready for the big night, I'm recapping the albums you should be listening to (or at the very least pre-ordering).

Cast members from HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL will appear at the Barnes & Noble at 86th and Lexington in New York City on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 5 p.m. to perform selections from the show and sign copies of the show's World Premiere Cast Recording.

The Theatre World Awards has announced the roster of presenters for the 70th Annual Theatre World Awards Ceremony that include DeAdre Aziza, Dylan Baker, Len Cariou, Tovah Feldshuh, Trent Kowalik, Jefferson Mays, John McMartin, and Zachary Quinto, with special performances by Mr. Cariou and Rob McClure, Monday evening, June 2, 2014 beginning at 7:45 p.m. at Circle in the Square (West 50th Street, between Broadway and 8th Avenue), home of the current Broadway revival of Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill.

When the legendary Blues artist Joe Louis Walker and his band played a terrific gig at B.B. King's Blues Club in August of 2012, it was their chick/babe front singer Sari Schorr who blew the roof off the club with power vocals. Now Schorr's voice will be busting out all over in June, as she is booked for performances this month throughout the metro area. On Thursday, June 5, her new Sari Schorr Band will be at Stanhope House in Stanhope, New Jersey, where the sensual Schorr will be performing a mix of classic Blues/Rock songs and her own original compositions. On Friday the 13th (7 pm) cabaret audiences will be very lucky to hear Schorr as one of the headliners in The Dana Lorge Variety Show at the Metropolitan Room. And then on Saturday June 21 (7:30 pm), Schorr will perform at Brooklyn's ShapeShifter Lab.

MB Financial Park kicks off the summer season with Rockin' in the Park 2014. The weekly concert series is scheduled to begin today, May 29 and will continue through Thursday, August 28, featuring the music of classic cover bands, as well as fireworks, food and beverage tents on the park's great lawn, located at 5501 Park Place, Rosemont.

ValueVille, the musical about one man's hellish experience working the night-shift at a giant superstore -- where nothing is what it seems, is an official selection of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival's Next Link Project (NYMF), and starts on July 7th at PTC Performance Space. ValueVille is one of the 10 plays chosen from among the over 250 submissions to this year's festival.

The Cabaret's 2014 Summer/Fall season kicks off July 11th with star of Broadway, Glee and 30 Rock, Cheyenne Jackson in his acclaimed show, Cheyenne Jackson's Cocktail Hour: Music of the Mad Men Era.

Hal Leonard will release vocal selections for a series of shows from this Broadway season in the coming months, including: Rocky (available now), Beautiful (June 1,2014), A Night with Janis Joplin (June 1, 2014), A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder (June 6, 2014), Big Fish (July 1, 2014), and Aladdin (August 1, 2014).

The 5th annual California Roots Music and Arts Festival will take place at the historic Monterey County Fairgrounds this weekend, May 23-25, 2014. This year's impressive lineup combines the best talent from the progressive US Reggae scene with SOJA, Rebelution, 311, and Pepper with Jamaican favorites including Steel Pulse, Ziggy Marley, Damian 'Jr. Gong' Marley, and many more.

I never thought that writing a rave review would be more difficult than constructing a less than positive critique, but Carole J. Bufford, damn her, is causing me creative problems. That's because for the third time in three years I'm compelled to praise this attractive powerhouse cabaret singer to the skies (you can find my two previous essays on her unassailable talent here and here) and my author's arsenal contains only so many superlatives. With yet another outstanding performance last Thursday night at the Metropolitan Room, the young woman who was named BroadwayWorld.com's 2013 Cabaret Vocalist of the Year has snatched my mental thesaurus (not to mention my online one) and trampled all over it. She's given me the writer's block blues.

Created by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, this groundbreaking and provocative exhibition features the firsts, the bests, and the celebrated and sometimes the lesser-knowns whose innovation advanced the progress of rock and roll.

Working Artists Theatre Project, in collaboration with the David Lynch Foundation, presents a staged play reading benefit of James McLure's companion comedies Lone Star and Laundry and Bourbon under the title '1959 Pink Thunderbird', featuring a cast of Broadway talent. All proceeds will benefit the Operation Warrior Wellness Project in teaching War Veterans with PTSD Transcendental Meditation.

The 80th Annual Drama League Awards Ceremony and Luncheon is being held this afternoon, May 16, at the Marriott Marquis Times Square, where winners will be announced for Distinguished Production of a Play, Distinguished Production of a Musical, Distinguished Revival of a Play, Distinguished Revival of a Musical, and the much coveted Distinguished Performance Award.
