This summer Jermyn Street Theatre presents a five-week season of theatre, featuring some of South Africa's most acclaimed playwrights and best-loved performers. The season will include major work by Athol Fugard and Reza de Wet, with performances by actors including Janet Suzman, Jack Klaff, Doreen Mantle and Basil Appollis.

Lenny Henry is due to return to the West Midlands to headline Birmingham Repertory Theatre's Autumn and Winter 2014 season. The Dudley-born comedian and actor will star in the stage premiere of Rudy's Rare Records from 4-20 September (press night Tue 9 September), his first role at the theatre.

Presented by the Baxter Theatre Centre at the University of Cape Town, this quietly compelling play gives us a micro-level glimpse into post-apartheid South Africa. A glimpse, I might add, that's very much worth your attention whether you happen to be a South Africa scholar, lover of all things theatrical, or simply someone who appreciates fine acting and playwriting every now and again.

Fifteen plus years in the making, the NY premiere of Tina Packer's Women of Will, her groundbreaking exploration of Shakespeare's canon through the eyes of his female characters opens officially on Sunday, February 3, 2013, after having begun previews on January 29, at The Gym at Judson (243 Thompson Street, at Washington Square South) in Manhattan. Eric Tucker ('Saint Joan') directs. This production of Women of Will marks Ms. Packer's New York stage debut, both as an actress and a playwright. Olney Theatre Center today announced Martin Platt as their new Artistic Director. Mr. Platt began his tenure on May 28, 2012. He comes to Olney Theatre Center from his current position as Co-Director of Perry Street Theatricals (PST), a New York based producing company.

Chichester Festival Theatre celebrates its 50th birthday with an anniversary season that echoes and acknowledges the past while also looking to the future. Uncle Vanya was part of Chichester's very first season in 1962 and became a key part of its history and is revisited during Festival 2012. The Way of the World in 1984 has also become an emblematic production; the play will feature again this year.
