SISTER ACT at Toby's in Columbia is a delightfully energetic show that is woman-driven and relationship-positive. Songwriter Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater (of Disney fame) create numbers specifically for theatrical production of the movie-inspired script. Ear-pleasing harmonies abound in an extravaganza of song, dance and sisterhood.

Dundalk Community Theatre gives families a reason to get out of the house this winter.  The family friendly Broadway Musical "A Year with Frog & Toad", based on beloved Arnold Lobel children stories, will be performed from February 23 - March 3rd.  Individual tickets are $17 and Children's tickets are $10.

Cockpit in Court Summer Theatre continues its 45th season with Sister Act, a feel-good comedy based on the Touchstone Pictures motion picture starring Whoopi Goldberg. The musical comedy runs from July 21 through Aug. 6 in the F. Scott Black Theatre at the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center at CCBC Essex, 7201 Rossville Boulevard in Rosedale.

Toby's Dinner Theatre in Columbia, MD presents SHOW BOAT, an old-fashioned treasure of musical theatre history, complete with troubling ethical issues, a cast packed with talent, vintage choreography, a fashion parade of costuming and vocals that will alternately haunt you and have you humming. Including a tasty buffet meal pre-show, comfortable venue and impeccably congenial staff, an outing to Toby's is the complete package for a date or family fun day.

Fiddler traffics in the safest kind of nostalgia, reminiscences of a world no one would want to return to. It's a lovely flirtation with a way of life that is safely dead. The only real question is whether it is done well. And I'm pleased to say that it's done very well by Toby's.

It's holiday time in Washington, DC with so many gorgeous decorations adorning our Nation's Capital. Our local theatres are booming with new productions and there are holiday tree lightings, concerts, recitals and sing-alongs all through the DC area. Now that The Capital Fringe Festival has finally packed up its tent, (read all 132 reviews of the Fringe reviews and reflections here), DC theatergoers are being offered some musical offerings this month including new productions of the popular musicals Chess, Nunsense, Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story, The Fantasticks and Side Show.

Toby's original version of Phantom of the Opera, written by local artists, plays at the Baltimore location through November 16.
