Artistic Director Kenny Leon and True Colors Theatre Company are proud to announce their 2017-2018 15th anniversary season of 'Truth & Clarity.'  The season of award winning plays and Atlanta premieres, opens in September 2017 with the Regional Premiere of the Broadway musical, Holler If Ya Hear Me featuring music by Tupac Shakur, written by Todd Kriedler, and directed by Kenny Leon. In February 2018, True Colors will produce the Tony Award winning drama King Hedley II by August Wilson directed by Jamil Jude. The season will close in July with the Southeastern premiere of the critically acclaimed play Dot by Colman Domingo, directed by Kenny Leon. 

In celebration of the historic Pantages Theatre's 100th anniversary, Hennepin Theatre Trust and the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) School of Fine Arts are partnering to support emerging musical theatre talent in Minnesota by presenting the premiere of THE 24 HOUR PLAYS.

Hats off to the artists seeking a theatrical way to tell the story of how one thriving African-American community was demolished in order to build part of the Eisenhower era highway system. The city here is Saint Paul, MN, but similar history can be found in plenty of places: Charlotte, NC; Baltimore, MD; Pittsburgh, PA, among them. That's the matter at the heart of a new play, THE HIGHWAYMEN, at the History Theater, directed by Jamil Jude.

La MaMa presents Clover, a new experimental theater drama about America's history of violence by Erik Ehn, directed by Glory Kadigan with original music by Maya Solovey and original puppet design & puppetry direction by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew.  Performances will be staged at the First Floor Theatre at La MaMa, 74a East 4th Street,New York, NY 10003 from December 1-16, 2016.

Langston Hughes' poem DREAM DEFFERRED is the source of the title of short-lived but influential playwright Lorraine Hansberry's classic play A RAISIN IN THE SUN. She died at the age of 34 just six years after the play opened on Broadway in 1959, but her work still resonates today. The story of a black family's struggle in 1950s Chicago to accomplish their dreams in a world that didn't want to let them can be palpably felt in the context of today's world. It's a great choice, then, for Park Square Theatre's 2016-2017 season and for their student matinee program, which serves over 30,000 students every year. And it's an incredibly moving production that brings out all the richness of Hansberry's writing. The fantastic local cast and the intimacy of the Andy Boss thrust stage making you feel as if you're in the Younger living room with them, experiencing this devastating, life-changing, and hope-inspiring event.

In a remarkable gift of generosity, Magic Tree House author, Mary Pope Osborne partnered with Stages Theatre Company and Random House Children's Books to make a donation of over 1,500 books! Each and every student from partner schools across the metro area that attended yesterday's 12:30 pm performance of Magic Tree House: A Night in New Orleans, received their very own Magic Tree House book.

Olney Theatre Center has finally taken the plunge in their intimate black-box space with their inaugural August Wilson production, 'The Piano Lesson.' Three "mini-seasons" will feature Rolling World Premieres, 20th century American classics, four extraordinary musicals, and an outdoor Shakespeare production beneath the stars.
